Associate Director, Export Controls Full Description

Job Summary
The Associate Director, Export Controls, will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day operational activities of Purdue’s sanctions and export controls program and developing agile and comprehensive responses to university initiatives that allow researchers to comply with the law and obtain and use controlled data. This position will have oversight of the export control training and information dissemination programs and will develop/maintain procedures to ensure compliance with sanctions and export control regulations, as well as sponsoring agency policies and procedures related to sanctions and export controls. As a member of the Research Security and Export Controls Leadership team, along with the Senior Director of Research Security and Export Controls and the Associate Director of Research Security, the Associate Director of Export Controls will assist in making strategic decisions for Purdue’s broader Research Security and Export Controls approach.
 
While in-person is preferred, hybrid and remote work will be considered for the appropriate candidate.

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Four (4) years of experience in sanctions and export controls compliance, and higher education compliance operations.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required upon date of hire because this position must be eligible to evaluate information contractually restricted to U.S. Citizens by the U.S. Government.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply sanctions and export controls regulations to a university research environment
  • Awareness of NSPM-33, CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, and related federal agency actions.
