| Primary Function of Organizational Unit | Located within the North Carolina Central University Division of Student Affairs, Student Access & Success Programs is dedicated to providing proactive support services, accommodations, education, and training designed to increase postsecondary success for students who are first-generation, from limited-income households, and/or have documented disabilities. The TRIO Student Support Services Teacher Preparation Program (SSS-TEACH) provides comprehensive academic, personal, and career support to eligible students majoring in education-related fields. Program services include academic advising, tutoring in education subjects, graduate school and research preparation, financial literacy education, and exposure to education career pathways. The program is committed to promoting student persistence, retention, and graduation while supporting the development of a diverse and well-prepared education workforce. Through targeted services and individualized support, TRIO SSS-TEACH fosters academic success and educational attainment among traditionally underrepresented students pursuing careers in education. |
| Primary Purpose of Position | The Associate Director of the TRIO Teacher Preparation Program (SSS-TEACH) provides leadership and administrative oversight for the day-to-day operations of a federally supported program designed to promote the retention, persistence, and graduation of first-generation, limited-income, and/or students with disabilities who are pursuing education-related fields of study. Reporting to the Executive Director for Student Access & Success, the Associate Director provides operational leadership, supervises professional and student staff, and supports the planning, implementation, and delivery of comprehensive student support services. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable federal, institutional, and program regulations, while contributing to strategic planning, program assessment, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Associate Director also supports budgetary management and the effective use of program resources to achieve established goals and objectives. Serving as a key liaison among students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders, the position plays a critical role in advancing student success and ensuring the effective delivery of services that support participants throughout their academic journey and preparation for careers in education. |
