Represent the college to university offices and other institutions. Participate in the development of goals, initiatives, and processes to support student success and graduation rates of newly admitted/readmitted & currently enrolled undergraduate students. Contribute to the smooth operations of Student Services, including workflow, organizational design, and personnel assignments. Establish effective communications with faculty and other university personnel on matters relating to academic courses, curricula, regulations and undergraduate academic advising. Assume duties and responsibilities of the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in his/her absence or as designated. Carry out special projects and assignments as needed. |

Interact with students, families, faculty and other stakeholders regarding complex and confidential academic issues. Maintain partnerships with the Student Disability Resource Center, Ombudsman, and related offices. Provide information concerning undergraduate curricula and majors to prospective and admitted students. Manage admission to candidacy reviews and final graduation certifications. Provide oversight for degree audits and completion and ensure staff are informing students of discrepancies. Ensure exceptions to academic requirements are documented. Advising and Registration: Oversee undergraduate advising programs for the college. Ensure students receive accurate and relevant information regarding admissions, major selection, degree requirements, curriculum planning, course requirements, and institutional policies and procedures. Ensure that new student orientation, advisement, registration, and student services programs are effective and efficient. Monitor and respond to course availability and capacity from MCEC and other colleges prior to and during registration periods. Ensure that the Director of Advising implements practices that are aligned with university and college best practices and initiatives for new freshman and transfer students regarding admissions requirements, course scheduling, course requirements, career choices, and institutional policies and procedures. Facilitate advisement and course selection of all student populations including incoming, current, readmitted, and transfer undergraduate students. Manage Study Abroad and National Student Exchange application and course approval processes for MCEC, and generate records of student participation. Facilitate the advisement of international exchange students and visiting transient students on course selection and assist them with registration. Maintain contact with partner programs, including IAP, SCHC, OSP, and Capstone Scholars, to ensure consistent advisement. Responsible for development of college-wide communications in regards to academic processes and progress towards degree completion. |

Manage Transient Enrollment course approval processes, coordinating with academic units and Registrar. Work with the academic program liaison to provide insights into curriculum changes and identify any academic roadblocks that may hinder time to degree completion. Direct activities to monitor and intervene with students at risk for violating the college’s policies on Repetition of Coursework and Program GPA. Maintain partnerships with Student Success Center, academic units, and related offices to provide supplemental instruction, tutoring and other retention-supporting activities. Oversee tutoring activities provided by MCEC student organizations and academic units. Assist departments in implementing faculty fellows opportunities as initiated by the department. As needed, contribute to student engagement programs and events. |
