Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The Assistant Director for Recruitment based remotely in ( New York/Fairfield, CT) is primarily responsible for managing many of the daily functions necessary for running national recruitment.
The Assistant Director will serve as a mentor to all national representatives by providing ongoing trainings and answering questions as needed.In support of national representatives, the Assistant Director will: build reports for representatives to assess their territories, develop communication guides for staff to use when working with students and their families, and maintain presentations used both virtually and for in-person visits.
The Assistant Director will counsel students and manage speaking engagements. They will oversee a recruitment territory and assess recruitment efforts to make suggestions based on their observations.
The Assistant Director will participate in application file review for admission to the university, the honors college and for Top Scholars.
The Assistant Director will recommend changes in admissions policies and procedures to best meet student needs.
This position requires extensive travel, seasonal overtime, and evening and weekend work.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials | Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications | Knowledge of secondary and post-secondary school systems desired. Two years experience in admissions, public relations or other student personnel areas desired. Experience using Ellucian Banner student information system and Technolutions Slate.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Must relate well to people, have an engaging personality and be able to speak with confidence before groups. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to appropriately manage time and prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently is required. Ability to work independently and with little direct supervision, but also collaboratively as a member of a team. Able to operate a personal computer. The ability to maintain confidential information. Must possess and maintain a positive, customer-friendly attitude. Ability to motivate others. Able to negotiate with and persuade others. Able to cultivate and manage key relationships. Ability to coordinate and schedule the work of others. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to read and evaluate academic credentials. Will be required to organize special programs and travel to recruitment territory independently. Must have strong writing skills. This position requires extensive travel, seasonal overtime, and evening and weekend work.
Job Duties
Job Duty | Develop, plan, and implement admissions recruitment activities within assigned territory. This includes, but is not limited to, attendance at college fairs, high school visits, workshops, panels, and other recruitment events. Enter all recruitment plans, student inquiries, and assessment into Slate by set deadlines. Complete all purchasing, travel, HR, and paperwork in compliance with University and office policy.

Be available for recruitment staff questions. Build reports in CRM for staff; develop personalized outreach communication guides for territories; and create and maintain in-person and virtual presentations for staff. Recommend changes in admissions policies and procedures to best meet student needs. Generate the annual national recruitment calendar. Travel to support training when feasible.
