Job Summary Serves as a strategic partner in Advancement, providing executive leadership and operational oversight for the division’s fundraising, alumni engagement, campaign execution, and institutional advancement initiatives. Provides leadership for the planning, coordination, and execution of advancement operations and administrative functions. Directs organizational strategy, operational planning, financial and resource management, workforce development, and technology-enabled modernization efforts to ensure operational effectiveness, fiscal sustainability, accountability, and continuous improvement across all advancement functions.Serving as Assistant Treasurer of the Cleveland State University (CSU) Foundation, oversees foundation financial operations, budgeting, audit and compliance activities, treasury and fiduciary functions, gift processing, and financial reporting while supporting the Foundation’s Audit, Finance, and Investment Committees. Leads organizational development initiatives, including workforce planning, leadership development, performance management, and advancement operations infrastructure, to foster a collaborative, high-performing, and mission-driven culture aligned with CSU’s strategic priorities. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration, higher education administration, nonprofit management, finance, public administration, or related field. Eight (8) years of progressively responsible l experience in advancement, higher education administration, nonprofit operations, finance, or related executive operational environments. Five (5) years of supervisory experience. Experience leading complex organizational operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and cross-functional initiatives. Experience managing large-scale operational functions, administrative teams, and organizational change initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree, preferably in business administration, higher education administration, nonprofit leadership, public administration, or related field. Experience in a comprehensive university advancement environment. Experience supporting multi-year fundraising campaigns and advancement growth strategies. Familiarity with advanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, fundraising analytics, and higher education governance structures. Experience leading enterprise operational modernization or technology transformation initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) | Knowledge of advancement operations, fundraising principles, nonprofit and foundation financial management, higher education administration, organizational development, strategic planning, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills and relates to people from all backgrounds and at all levels of an organization. A team player who operates with transparency and fosters trust and collaboration within the organization. Ability to manage, motivate and lead a team of professionals in a customer service-oriented framework. Effective negotiation skills in order to formulate policies and programs and arrive collaboratively. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with diverse constituencies. Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical implementation; excellent change management, project management, and process improvement skills; ability to respond quickly to changing business needs and priorities. Ability to innovate and demonstrates new and progressive growth. Ability to have an executive vision, including the ability to articulate the vision, create a strategy behind the vision and be able to align a team in achieving that vision. Ability to analyze complex financial, operational, and organizational issues and develop effective solutions. Must have exceptional insight and discernment skills. Travel required approximately 10% of the time.
