Position Summary:
The Budget Manager reports to the Director of Finance for Student Affairs and Academic Support (SAAS) and is responsible for overseeing the full budget cycle, including development, implementation, monitoring, review, and long-term financial planning. This role manages budget activities across multiple fiscal years simultaneously while enhancing processes, training staff, and developing analytical tools, dashboards, and reports. The Budget Manager provides leadership with budget updates, financial analysis, and strategic recommendations, and ensures compliance with university policies, state regulations, and best practices in budgeting.

Primary Job Duties

Budget Development Lead and manage the division’s annual budget development processes. Collaborate with department and unit leaders to assist in the preparation of budgets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with institutional goals. Budget Review and Monitoring Lead and manage the division’s fall and spring budget review processes. Conduct analysis, prepare commentary and support year-end forecasting. Financial Analysis Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting, to provide insights and recommendations for optimizing budgetary decisions. Assist in long-term financial planning by participating in the development of multi-year budget projections and financial models. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies for optimizing resource allocation and improving operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with university policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines related to budgeting and financial management. Reporting and Communication Prepare comprehensive financial reports, summaries, and presentations for departments, units, and division leadership. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial data, utilizing budgeting software and spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis and reporting.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience  | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
