Job Description:
Madison College is seeking a creative and collaborative Business and Industry Training Specialist to join our Business & Industry Services team. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s passionate about digital learning, adult education, and helping organizations grow through accessible, well-designed training. You’ll use your instructional design skills and tech know-how to support our business clients, develop curriculum, enhance our online learning experiences, and help expand access to high-quality training across our district.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of education and innovation. Whether you’re developing course content using tools like Articulate 360 or Thinkific, helping a new instructor get ready for their first virtual session, or working alongside a client to turn their workforce challenges into a custom training plan, you’ll be making a real impact.

Position Details:
- Full-time, exempt, 52 weeks per year
- Located at our Commercial Avenue campus, with some flexibility for remote work within the district (subject to change)

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Design digital learning content (self-paced, hybrid, or online) using tools like Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise, Review), narrated screen recordings, and Videoscribe to support workforce training programs
- Support client-facing training: facilitate virtual or in-person sessions for organizations on topics like project management, negotiation, or leadership
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and co-create impactful, inclusive training solutions tailored to their workforce
- Pilot and refine curriculum using feedback from clients and learners to improve quality and access
- Support instructors by sharing best practices, co-hosting mock sessions in Zoom or Teams, and troubleshooting tech as needed
- Administer and maintain our learning platforms like Thinkific and help integrate them with tools like Shopify and our website
- Stay current with learning tech trends, accessibility practices, and tools that enhance the online training experience
- Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in instructional design and learning sciences, including the effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) in course development. Proactively identify and evaluate innovative solutions to enhance learning experiences and recommend tools for potential adoption.
- Promote flexibility and inclusion in course design and delivery to ensure access for all learners, especially working adults, English language learners, and others who may face barriers to traditional formats
- Represent Madison College at business, workforce, and community events, sharing our training programs and building partnerships
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- A passion for creating learning that works: practical, engaging, and accessible
- Experience with instructional design and digital learning platforms (especially Thinkific, Articulate 360, or similar tools)
- Comfort facilitating training for diverse audiences, whether online or in person
- Knowledge of workforce development and the ability to tailor training to business and industry needs
- Familiarity with learning management systems and ability to troubleshoot or support users
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working across differences or with community-based partners
- A flexible mindset, a love of learning, and a commitment to making education more inclusive and accessible
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required. An Associate’s Degree may be considered with equivalent additional work experience. - Experience:
2-4+ years of relevant, professional, and progressive work experience. - Ability to travel occasionally to client sites across the Madison College district
- Preferred:
Experience working with adult learners or in community-based settings
Knowledge of grant-funded training programs or previous experience delivering professional development to businesses or nonprofits
