Business Assistant II Full Description

Overview: 
The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. Providing financial services support, the Business Assistant II will contribute to the success of the Caine School of the Arts. The Business Assistant II provides transactional support by coordinating a variety of administrative and business functions. Using their knowledge and related experience, the successful candidate will help initiate, process, and manage tasks related to finance, personnel, travel, and other assigned responsibilities that support the operations of assigned areas.
 
The position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines, and the desire and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a productive team.

Responsibilities: 
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform human resource functions, including payroll, job postings, and employment action form requests.
  • Review and approve financial transactions, including P-card, travel, and EZ-Buy.
  • Assist with scholarship, course fees, and start-up accounts management.
  • Make purchases in accordance with university policies and practices.
  • Reconciles and reviews financial statements to ensure accuracy.
  • Provides support to the business manager and financial officer.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases to track information.
  • Analyze data and generate reports.
  • Monitor project expenditures to verify correctness and completeness.
  • Actively participate in meetings and trainings at the unit and university level.
  • Embrace fast-paced office environment and thrive on change.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four years of related work experience, OR a business/finance bachelor’s degree, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Banner
  • Experience with ServiceNow
  • Previous USU experience
  • Familiarity with USU travel, purchasing, p-card, and HR policies and procedures
  • Previous experience in the arts
