Department Overview: The Business Data Analyst 1 gathers, compiles, and reports on information and statistical data and assists in analyzing and drafting this information or data in narrative or schematic form in support of Facilities Operations and Research & Academic Facilities departments. This position gathers, validates, analyzes, and interprets facilities-related data, translating findings into actionable insights, recommendations, dashboards, and narrative reports for leadership, managers, and customers.
Function/Duties of Position:
Advanced Facilities Data Analysis & Development
This responsibility focuses on the collection, validation, and advanced analysis of facilities and operational data to support informed decisionâmaking, performance measurement, and process improvement across Facilities Operations. The Business Data Analyst 1 applies analytical judgment and statistical techniques to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability, transforming raw data into meaningful information.
Report Generation, Visualization & Interpretation Design
This responsibility centers on transforming analyzed data into clear, accurate, and actionable reports, dashboards, and visual tools that support operational planning, leadership decisionâmaking, and customer transparency. The Business Data Analyst 1 ensures reporting products are technically sound, visually clear, and tailored to diverse audiences.
Business Consulting & Decision Support
This responsibility involves providing consultative analytical expertise to leaders, managers, and partners to improve operational performance, cost effectiveness, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Business Data Analyst 1 serves as a trusted advisor, helping stakeholders understand data, apply insights, and make evidenceâbased decisions.
Project Coordination, Training & Quality Review
This responsibility supports continuous improvement by contributing to dataârelated projects, system enhancements, and staff skill development. The Business Data Analyst 1 ensures analytical work products meet quality standards and supports knowledge transfer across the team.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a business field and 6 months of experience that included analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR
Associates degree in a business field plus two years of experience that included analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR
Four years of experience that included analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR
An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.Â
Skills and Abilities
Experience compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data; developing reports and written analysis; and using spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools.
Ability to resolve advanced customer service issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience and knowledge of working with a diverse group of people with conflicting and urgent needs and ability to maintain a harmonious working relationship campus wide.Â
Ability to operate multi-line phones and a two-way radio system.Â
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting facilities, operations, or maintenance functions.
Experience with enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle eAM, data warehouses, reporting platforms).
Advanced skill level with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Oracle, Project time entry.
Basic knowledge of web software such as Dreamweaver.Â
Additional Details:
Work hours to be Monday through Friday day shift, 7:30am â 4:00pm. This is a hybrid position, three days on-site, two days remote, up to management discretion.
