Position Overview

The Business Development Manager - Major Accounts, Private team, is an energetic hunter responsible for growing our footprint in major private child care. This is one of the most strategically important sales positions at Teaching Strategies and this individual will have routine interactions with senior leaders across the organization. This individual will demonstrate hustle and strategic selling in uncovering and going after new partnership opportunities selling Teaching Strategies' full line of solutions to the major private childcare accounts across the US in support of defined revenue goals. This role will build upon an existing foundation of established success in the marketplace and increase market share by using a collaborative, consultative approach with customers.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains a healthy sales pipeline for new business.
  • Establishes key relationships in the C-suite.
  • Proactively develops strategic deals by leveraging personal and professional networks.
  • Owns the business development 'funnel' including inbound, outbound, and long-tail opportunity management. You will qualify leads and take thenext steps with the appropriate teams.
  • Provides internal teams with insight into the client's strategic business initiatives to ensure our work is consistent with the client's goals.
  • Looks for opportunities to grow existing accounts and provide value.
  • Develops a territory plan designed to build a diversified and meaningful pipeline and to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals.
  • Achieves monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals for the assigned territory.
  • Builds, maintains, and develops knowledge to become an expert on Teaching Strategies' solutions and the competitive landscape for early childhood development.
  • Responsible for the full cycle of the sales process; balances time effectively with the right mix of prospecting, planning, presenting, negotiating, and closing.
  • Accurately manages sales pipeline in Salesforce.com and SalesLoft while creating sales opportunities that accurately reflect product, $ amount and estimated close dates.
  • Utilizes Salesforce.com and SalesLoft to track all sales activity and customer/prospect correspondence for a given territory.
  • Provides monthly forecasts and sales projections to Sales leadership.
  • Maintains existing relationships with customers and channels customer feedback appropriately.
  • Hosts online presentations and demonstrations as well as face-to-face meetings.
  • Communicates on a regularly scheduled basis with all major private childcare clients; provides timely follow-up to all phone and email communications regarding potential sales opportunities.
  • Represents Teaching Strategies at exhibits, conferences, and events in the market.
  • Increases market leadership capacity and ensures the development of long-term customer partnerships.
  • Works across departments to establish shared goals and cross-functional initiatives in support of sales and company priorities.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of education sales experience with a track record of success selling digital, print, assessment, and professional development education solutions
  • Mastery of successful selling skills and techniques
  • Experience performing market analysis and building/managing a diverse and balanced sales pipeline
  • Knowledge of educational structures and ability to sell to multiple decision-makers at multiple levels
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM solution is highly desired
  • Understanding of the variety of funding sources customers can use to purchase product, staff development, and assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at the executive level
  • Ability to travel up to 60% with seasonal variations
  • Prior experience in the education field (e.g. classroom teacher, center director) is a plus
  • Prior experience selling into Private Childcare is a plus
