Business Development Specialist, Scholars Network Full Description

Position Overview

Scholars Network works with health systems, colleges and universities, and strategic partners to bring health systems and higher education institutions together, providing students opportunities for employment and student loan repayment upon graduation. The Business Development Specialist on the Scholars Network team will play a critical role in supporting the growth of our partnerships and revenue. Specifically, this position will be responsible for working closely with our sales team to create sales collateral, ensure our CRM is always up to date, track next steps with pipeline opportunities, and draft ongoing communication as opportunities move through the pipeline. In addition, this position will assist in writing sales proposals and RFP responses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the organization of our CRM, including ensuring that all potential deals are in the correct stages, have updated notes, and follow-up dates are established. 
  • Identify and research key decision-makers at target employers before outreach begins and ahead of key meetings
  • Create pitch decks, proposals, and populate spreadsheets for sales calls in all stages of the funnel
  • Join sales calls to capture key information and formulate next steps
  • Draft initial and follow-up communication to prospects and potential partners. Track incoming and outgoing communication to ensure follow-up is done at the appropriate cadence across multiple sales leaders on the team 
  • Assist in writing sales proposals and RFP responses, including basic financial modeling, leveraging AI tools such as Claude to streamline workflows
  • Perform competitor, new business, and industry research, including maintaining a pricing database 
  • Collect and keep return-on-investment benchmarking data up to date, including competitive incentive offerings for all of current and prospective partners, Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, turnover data, etc.
  • Sales conference support including preparing materials, scheduling meetings in advance, and post-event follow-up. Potential to attend sales conferences, as needed. 
  • Manage our top-of-funnel outreach vendor to implement strategies as described by the sales team
You have:
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to proactively manage-up to ensure the Sales team is executing against defined priorities
  • Previous experience in a high-growth or startup environment. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment
  • Experience automating workflows using Claude, or a similar AI tool
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with an ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of management
  • Strong Google Slides, Google Sheets, and Excel experience 
  • Experience with Hubspot or similar CRM is a plus
