Position Summary Information
Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for data analytics using statistical methods and models to generate graphs, charts, and other visualizations to assist end users in understanding the meaning behind the data. In addition, the Analyst will be responsible for writing and validating complex SQL queries for data mining, designing rich data visualizations to communicate complex ideas to leadership, and developing specifications and proposed layouts in partnership with end users. This position also manages the donor restricted accounts for accuracy and consistency with donor intent. This will be accomplished by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In consultation with the Senior Director of Advancement Operations, generate and maintain reports illustrating overall, and unit specific fundraising results. Develop and produce performance metrics reports for fundraising operations including YTD progress toward goals, comparison with prior period and annual reporting. Develop and produce progress reports in terms of dollars raised, pipeline, portfolio capacity and development officer activity. Partner with the Senior Director of Advancement Operations to determine organizational information and reporting needs. Implement ‘self-serve’ results delivery system and/or dashboards for up-to-date activity. Fundraising Analysis – Assess and provide concise, actionable and accurate analysis of fundraising operations Utilizing available data, respond to management analysis needs by developing strategic plans, forecasts, business cases, cost benefit analysis, ROI calculations, and any other analysis required in support of fundraising operations. Reviews, monitors, and evaluates policies and data analyses to present as evidence-based support for decision-making. Develop and maintain a synthesized report that integrates multiple data sources to monitor account balances and notify appropriate parties of account activity. Develop and maintain a synthesized report that integrates multiple data sources to reconcile Donor Funded account activity accurately and efficiently within the University accounting system, and external endowment accounts.
Supervisory Responsibilities | This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

Knowledge of finance, accounting, standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions. Experience with tools such as Tableau, R, Power Apps, Power Automate or PowerBI preferred. Experience managing data: Gathering, Analyzing, Cleaning, transforming, and manipulating various sorts of data using SQL, Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOK UP, etc.), Power BI, Tableau, and Python to ensure accuracy and consistency. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud environment. Microsoft Excel Expert Certification preferred. Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (R, Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.) Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, synthesize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Innovative, energetic, flexible, and highly organized. Operates most efficiently in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Technical expertise creating models to forecast trends and in data mining and segmentation techniques. Demonstrated experience handling large and complex data sets. Adept at data visualization and analysis in addition to writing queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
