Data Resource Analyst Full Description

Position Summary
The Research Evaluation and Data Analytics Team of MSU AgBioResearch Office of Research Support (ORS) is looking for a candidate to fill a data resource analyst position. The successful candidate will: monitor computer programs, data analytics system and update applications and solutions that interact with databases and other programs; implement precise business logic and monitor routine data flow in data processing system; perform quality checks, investigate, and address compute-related and data analytics problems; maintain and develop codes to support data automation and extract information from existing files; maintain and design solutions and tools for data collection, analysis and integration; visualize, analyze and summarize results and participates in preparing portions of reports or other scholarly works. Preference for candidates with experience in higher education institutions.  This is a hybrid position consisting of remote work and in office work. This position is funded 3 years from start date, with possibility of an extension.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a master's in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, or a related discipline; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research design, statistical methods and knowledge of computer hardware and software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications
  • A master’s degree (or near master's degree) in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in advanced programming, full-stack development, machine learning application development, database administration, and workflow automation.
  • Experience in roles such as programmer analyst, management analyst, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of Generative AI tools and their application in business process automation and content generation.
  • Familiarity with tools like OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, or other GenAI platforms.
  • Experience with database and BI tools such as SQL, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and Cognos.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power Automate, PowerApps, Excel VBA, and cloud data prep platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
