Description:
The New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, Office of the Vice Provost and Dean at ASU West Valley Campus, is seeking a highly motivated, professional, and customer service-oriented part-time, benefits-eligible Business Specialist. This position will report to the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, Office of the Vice Provost and Dean and reports to the Business Manager. In this role, the successful candidate will support key business functions for the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies, including processing purchases, reviewing and approving faculty and staff travel documents and expense reports, maintaining related records and documentation, and providing administrative and customer service support to faculty and staff.

Essential Duties:
  • Processes purchase requests, PCard transactions, travel requests, and expense reimbursements
  • Keeps informed of, interprets and applies pertinent rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Develops recommendations for the implementation of procedures for daily operations
  • Maintains knowledge of ASU practices and policies in order to provide guidance to faculty and staff and successful execution of all assigned fiscal responsibilities
  • Completes other duties or projects as assigned

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Experience using financial management systems
  • Experience reviewing and processing travel reimbursements and related documentation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of university policies and procedures

  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts

Working Environment:
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals

This position is located at ASU's West Valley campus in northwest Phoenix and is part of the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (New College).
