Brightpoint Community College invites applications for the Part-Time Human Services Advisor provides essential one-on-one support to continuing CTE students, guiding them through course selection, program mapping, and registration processes. This role involves close collaboration with faculty and deans to ensure consistent advising messaging and referring students to appropriate wraparound services when needed. The advisor also plays a key role in supporting early alert and retention initiatives for CTE programs, and assists with recruitment events, enrollment campaigns, and new student orientations. This is a grant/restricted position with a limit of 624 hours maximum and will end June 30, 2026. Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications | Candidates must demonstrate a strong background in academic advising or career counseling, proficiently assessing student needs, creating academic and career plans, and providing both individual and group advising, including course selection and progress monitoring. Candidates should also have human services or social sciences knowledge or experience. A crucial aspect of this role involves understanding industry certifications and labor market demands to empower students in their academic and career ownership. Strong written, oral, public speaking, and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to build rapport, collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff, and clearly communicate complex information.

A high degree of professionalism, ethics, confidentiality, and adherence to FERPA are paramount. The position also requires a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate student needs, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various college departments.
