Job Summary
Working collaboratively with college leadership, faculty, and staff, the Career Navigator holds responsibility for developing and managing BCTC’s work-based learning initiatives for students and employers. Work-Based Learning opportunities include cooperative education experiences, internships, micro-internships, student activities and working with students in different career pathways. The position reports to the Career Services Center Director in the Advancement and Workforce Development department. This is a grant funded position.
Job Duties: Expand upon the number of work-based learning opportunities for students to include internships and cooperative education opportunities.
Recruits new companies while also serving as the primary contact for work-based learning to ensure they successfully complete the program and transition into the company.
Works under the leadership of the Career Services Center Director to conduct job fairs, employment-related student support activities, etc.
Develop relationships with business and industry partners to promote BCTC work-based learning opportunities for students and graduates.
Promote Handshake platform to employers and students to create suitable matches for co-ops, internships, apprenticeships, and part-time, or full-time positions.
Promote My Majors platform to students to ensure the career assessment tool is fully utilized.
Works collaboratively with Faculty Cooperative Education Coordinator to support impactful work-based learning opportunities for students.
Works collaboratively with Student Success Career Coaches/Advisors to ensure staff are prepared to provide career assessment services to current applicants/students.
Develops social media assets and communicates regularly on social media platforms to provide a robust marketing campaign for the Office of Career, Employment and Work-Based Learning.
Works collaboratively with faculty and staff at the college to ensure work-based learning opportunities are advertised and communicated across the college.
Works with students to support career pathways and assist them in finding the right fit for them.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, Human Resources, Career and Technical Education, Counseling, or related field preferred and 2 years of related experience or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, Human Resources, Career and Technical Education, Counseling, or related field and 4 years experience
