Position Title: Career Services Specialist

Department:  Career Services

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $39,000-$41,880

Travel: Less than 10%

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Facilitate student employment program supports (i.e. guidance in addressing student employment issues, job description development) and expansion of Career Services’ reach with stakeholders through use of social media. Coordinate mid-sized and large events, with a special emphasis on employer recruitment, and implementation of strategic career and professional opportunities for students. Serve as the primary contact for Handshake to include marketing, training, resolving technical issues for system users, and working with external vendors on troubleshooting and upgrades.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Degree Area: 

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: 

Required Minimum Work Experience:  One year of experience working with undergraduate students and employers in career services in a college or university, or other related experience (i.e. human resources).
Two years previous experience planning mid- to large-sized events, especially job fairs and other recruitment activities.
One year of experience in providing customer service.
One year of social media experience, specifically with business accounts, to include analytics and reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Knowledge of student employment programs and requirements, including Federal and State employment law and regulations (i.e. minimum wage, Equal Opportunity, etc.).
Basic knowledge of various social media platforms (i.e. LinkedIn, Instagram).
Ability to manage information and perform computerized tasks to include any combination of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email or web-based applications.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise direction and judgement.
Ability to effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

An interest in working with students, staff, and faculty.
