Student Peer Advising training will be offered virtually. For training please contact Maggie Sandoval, Academic Advisor at masandoval@chapman.edu.

WCAHSS Peer Advisor Program Director will evaluate the performance of the Student Peer Advisor once a semester. Part of this evaluation will be based on the feedback provided by the students on a questionnaire. This questionnaire will provide feedback on the Student Peer Advisor and the program itself, allowing Wilkinson College to continuously improve the program.

Position Summary Information 
Job Description Summary  | As a direct report to the Program Manager, the CCI Student Administrative Assistant/ Peer Advisor is pivotal in providing operational support to the Center for Creative and Cultural Industries. This position involves assisting with data collection and compilation, project coordination, assisting with the expansion and maintenance of social media platforms, assisting faculty with preparation of course materials, responding to inquiries, and representing the program at public-facing events. Additionally, the Assistant serves as the department’s peer advisor. The Peer Advisor helps students select classes, provides information on program specific requirements; academic programs; university policies and procedures; as well as making appropriate referrals to Program and/or Academic advisors and campus resources. Peer Advisors hold drop-in and appointment hours in person and remotely, as well as responding to email requests for information. Peer Advisors need to have an advanced understanding of the CCI program.

Responsibilities  | Duties will involve but are not limited to: Assist with various data collection for use in updating program materials. Correspond with the Social Media Coordinator to continuously update and improve the program’s program social media platforms. Assist Faculty as needed with preparation of course materials. Assist program manager with administrative and event activities. Independently work on assigned projects and website compilation and maintenance. Hold and manage calendar for in-person and virtual Peer advising appointments and be available during defined drop-in hours. Meetings should be scheduled for 15-30 minutes per student. Complete the Peer Advisor Accountability Tracking sheet via Peer Advisor Canvas Den for every student interaction: email, in-person or virtual. Respond to all email and phone inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Perform basic intake analysis to determine if they can assist the student themselves or should refer the student to the appropriate department, college, or campus-level resource. Explain and guide students on the importance and relevancy of Program Advisors to assist with enrolling in waitlisted classes, program related questions, incorporating study abroad requirements and graduating on schedule. Strive constantly to be accurate and honest in all communication. Attend all training sessions and Peer Advisor meetings. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications  | Must be a CCI Minor. Professional, dependable, organized, able to multi-task, ability to collaborate. Ability to learn support process, and to work independently in a professional and reliable manner. Ability to pivot when needed to accommodate immediate needs of unit. Effectively communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic and tactful manner using preferred method and level applicable to the job. Proven accuracy and attention to detail. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Able to effectively handle confidential and proprietary information. Proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Calendly, Wix, Instagram, and/or relevant position software programs. Working knowledge of program requirements, university catalog, graduation and general education requirements.

Desired Qualifications  | Extensive experience with WIX or other website building software. Experience working in an administrative or advising capacity.
