About the Opportunity
Ellucian is seeking a Head of Digital Transformation & CIO who will work onsite at Rider University. As the Head of Digital Transformation & CIO reporting directly to the Vice President of University Operations, you will be the trusted advisor to the Rider University executive leadership team and senior most technology leader on campus. You will facilitate the strategic, forward-thinking vision to better advance the university’s adoption of information technology and business process optimization through meaningful campus communications and enablement practices. You will manage strategic and tactical initiatives and build consensus around the value of university-wide collaboration in a private higher education institution, while ensuring the alignment of Ellucian strategy, processes, and resources.

The ideal candidate must have the ability to collaborate across all levels of the university and infuse current practices with creative problem solving through positive relationships. The position requires professionalism, confidentiality, organization, prioritization, excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to garner respect and confidence of colleagues through listening, learning, and forging working relationships and synergies across the university. 

Where you will make an impact 
  • Drive technology transformation and effective change within the institution, ensuring constituents are consulted, informed and enabled along the way. 
  • Develop and sustain positive relationships with the institution’s community members - faculty, staff and students. 
  • Establish and direct the goals, policies, procedures and outcomes of the IT division in support of the university’s strategic plan and core objectives in tight collaboration with the functional teams.  
  • Maintain an exceptionally high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and ongoing proactive collaboration. 
  • Communicate strategic priorities and implementation plans to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Implement a modern technology governance process that effectively considers and integrates with established university-wide policies and practices; communicate governance processes, plans and status updates on a regular basis with related functional division leadership. 
  • Assess, anticipate, and lead technology modernization projects and recommend appropriate action and resources. 
  • Help translate goals into executable tactics through identifying responsible parties, needed resources, deadlines, and assessments.
  • Stay abreast of emerging higher education issues as well as trends in technology and development.  

What will you bring 
  • 10+ years of experience in the Information Technology field or equivalent combination of education and experience leading strategic technology initiatives in a college or university environment. 
  • Knowledge of higher education with the ability to be sensitive and tactful, with high emotional intelligence.   
  • Current knowledge of use and trends of technology in higher education. 
  • Strong advising, empathizing and influencing abilities. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong information technology project management skills. 
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
