Role Overview

The Cloud FinOps and Governance Engineer is responsible for building a culture of cost intelligence across our multi-cloud ecosystem (Azure, AWS, GCP). This role blends technical depth in cloud operations with financial accountability, ensuring workloads are cost-optimized, compliant, and aligned to governance frameworks. You will partner with architecture and engineering teams to embed cost KPIs into design, enforce tagging standards, and deliver real-time cost visibility for decision-making.

Essential Functions

- Implement and enforce tagging compliance policies across multi-cloud environments.
- Develop unit economics, showback, and chargeback models for applications and teams.
- Manage reserved and committed coverage strategies to reduce unit costs and optimize cloud spend.
- Build and maintain centralized real-time dashboards for cost visibility across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
- Embed FinOps KPIs into architecture reviews, ensuring cost is a first-class metric.
- Conduct monthly cost reviews with engineering leads and recommend optimization actions.
- Collaborate with procurement on vendor commitments, RI/SP planning, tooling, and discounts.
- Support audits and compliance reporting with accurate cost and governance data.

What You'll Need for Success

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud cost optimization, FinOps, or cloud governance.
- Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, and GCP billing and cost management tools.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Apptio Cloudability, ProsperOps, Ternary, or Hystax OptScale.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in cost modeling, dashboards, and reporting.
- Proven ability to enforce governance standards such as tagging, workload placement, and policy compliance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and financial domains.
