Job Summary | Subject matter expert (SME) and liaison between the College of Health (COH), Center for Instructional Technology (CITDL), and Information Services and Technology (IS&T). Provides expert technical support, integration, and consultation for instructional technologies e.g., audiovisual, simulation-based, and computer, to support immersive learning experiences used within the COH. Develops, installs, operates and provides ongoing maintenance of highly specialized classroom and lab equipment, hardware, and software such as high-fidelity manikins used for simulation-based education, inventory management software, patient and simulation scheduling, documentation platforms, recording and debriefing systems, and technologies. Partners with faculty, staff, and students to meet teaching objectives by identifying, recommending, and implementing technological solutions and practices that meet those needs. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications | Associate’s degree preferably in technology, health sciences, or a related field. Related work experience may be substituted for education requirement. One (1) year of related work experience can be substituted for one (1) year of education. For example, a candidate with a high school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent and four (4) years of related work experience can be eligible to apply. Two (2) years of experience in audiovisual (A/V), IT support and/or technical support of medical simulation devices. Experience delivering technical training. Ability to transport and set up equipment. If lifting is over fifty (50) pounds, ability to buddy lift or use of tools to aid in lifting. Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required.
Preferred Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree, preferably in instructional technology, computer science, health sciences, or related field. Certifications in AVIXA CTS, CompTIA A+, ITIL, or simulation-specific credentials (e.g., CHSOS).. Experience supporting health professions technology e.g., nursing simulation manikins, medical simulation recording or debriefing systems. Experience with healthcare simulation technology, instructional equipment, or software e.g. Elevate HealthCare (formerly CAE LearningSpace), Laerdal LLEAP. Familiarity with best practices in adult learning, medical pedagogy, and debriefing strategies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) | Extensive knowledge and understanding of simulation-based learning and instructional technology in healthcare and of advanced virtual and practical training technologies and systems. Ability to analyze end-user needs and recommend solutions. Extensive knowledge of network, hardware, and software troubleshooting techniques. Proficiency in A/V systems, recording and playback technologies, and simulation hardware and software. Familiarity with general A/V and information technology concepts and terminology, inventory systems, and safety protocols Excellent written and verbal communication skills, “customer focus” attitude, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and decision-making abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills, Ability to take ownership of projects, anticipate department needs and develop appropriate responses, meet deadlines, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and be a quick and continuous learner. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
