Posting Context Statement  | The Institute for Modeling Collaboration and Innovation advances model-based research and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration. It serves as a hub where faculty, postdocs, staff and students from a range of disciplines work together to solve real-world biomedical and complex-systems problems. IMCI’s Modeling Core supports research across the university by generating new approaches and seeding interdisciplinary teams and its mission emphasizes creating an environment that bridges disciplines and encourages grassroots collaboration. IMCI enables early-career investigators and multi-disciplinary teams to pursue novel research directions and build institutional capacity.
Position Overview  | The position ensures effective internal and external communication, branding and messaging by leading and collaborating on communication efforts within the unit and across campus. This position advances the reputation of the University of Idaho and assigned unit(s) through purposeful and creative messaging that is tied to strategic initiatives and builds campus wide and public understanding and support for the teaching and research mission of the unit(s) specifically, as well as the University of Idaho in general. The position will work in a collaborative environment with team members and University Communications and Marketing to create impactful communications.

Duties may include: Write and edit a variety of content in digital and print formats Maintain the project or effort website, social media presence and online communications; collaborate on data collection for a variety of reports May assist with day-to-day office operations Provide consultation and writing support to department leadership Other duties as assigned

 Position Qualifications 
Required Experience  | One year of communications, marketing, graphic design, journalism, or public relations experience Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials Working in customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals Handling a variety of projects simultaneously that requires attention to details

Required Education  | Associate’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations; two additional years of experience (for a total of three years) may substitute for a Associate’s Degree
Required Other  | Ability to occasionally work nonstandard business hours and weekends
Additional Preferred  | Bachelors in Communications, English, Journalism or Public Relations or similar Experience working in higher education or collaborative environments Experience producing and editing informational and persuasive material Experienced in coordinating events, including planning, logistics, and communication Ability to collaborate and demonstrate positive interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders Ability to work independently Proficiency in photo/video editing and digital and print design workflows, including adobe creative suite, website management (WordPress, basic html) and multimedia production principles Experience in modern workspace and collaboration software, including the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Word, PowerPoint) document management tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro)
