| Job Summary | The Associate Director, Research Security and Export Control will assume a pivotal role at the University of Utah. This position will assist in the direction of export control compliance and advance the University’s facilitation of secured research and may serve as the Empowered Official for the University’s Export Compliance Program. The Associate Director, Research Security and Export Control will provide visionary leadership, experience, strategic direction, and execution guidance to shape the future of research security and export control compliance across the University of Utah. They will provide planning, faculty support, and expertise in the areas of research security and export control compliance. The Associate Director, Research Security and Export Control will be a strategic thinker with an open and collaborative style who fosters teamwork, sustains a learning environment for growing number of staff and develops an open, engaged culture that engenders trust from the broader university-wide research community. About the VPR The Vice President for Research (VPR) Office at the University of Utah is a dynamic hub for innovation and discovery. As an R1 institution recognized for very high research activity, the University of Utah leads groundbreaking research that impacts both local and global communities. The VPR Office collaborates with researchers, drives interdisciplinary initiatives, and fosters a culture of discovery. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, shared IT services, and research enablement. Qualifications: To qualify for the Associate Director, Research Security and Export Control the candidate must have a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 10 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience. Assumes work equivalency (1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience).
