The Junior Instructional Designer supports the analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of training content for instructor-led (ILT) and eLearning environments. This role focuses on content updates, multimedia preparation, course testing, and documentation management while working under the guidance of senior and staff instructional designers.
The Junior Instructional Designer helps ensure learning solutions are accurate, consistent, accessible, and aligned with established templates, branding standards, and learning objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development & Production
- Update and refine PowerPoint presentations for instructor-led and virtual training sessions.
- Assist with recording, editing, and implementing narration and voiceover for eLearning and presentation-based content.
- Support the development of facilitator guides, job aids, storyboards, and basic eLearning components.
- Ensure all materials follow branding guidelines, templates, formatting standards, and accessibility requirements.
Instructional Design Support
- Apply foundational instructional design models and adult learning principles under the direction of senior designers.
- Assist in aligning content with learning objectives, course outcomes, and instructional design standards.
- Participate in design and content reviews, incorporating feedback from senior designers, subject matter resources, and stakeholders.
Systems & Documentation Management
- Test eLearning courses in staging and production environments to ensure functionality and quality.
- Maintain course files, documentation, and digital assets in SharePoint.
- Support version control, content updates, and publishing processes.
- Ensure documentation remains organized, current, and aligned with governance processes.
- Track project tasks, timelines, and status updates using project management tools (e.g., Monday.com).
Collaboration & Project Support
- Assist senior and staff instructional designers with project coordination activities, including note-taking, documenting feedback, scheduling reviews, and supporting project communications.
- Communicate effectively with team members, instructors, and subject matter resources as needed.
- Research and gather reference materials, tools, and best practices related to instructional design, learning technologies, and multimedia.
Position Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent academic coursework, internship, or practicum experience in instructional design or multimedia development.
Experience & Skills
- Basic knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following tools preferred:
- Articulate 360 or comparable authoring tools
- Adobe Creative Cloud or similar multimedia software
- Narration and voiceover tools
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes.
