Contract Humanities Content Reviewer: Introductory Psychology
We are seeking a highly-qualified Contract Humanities Content Reviewer to join our team at Catalyst Education, Inc., focusing on introductory psychology content. In this remote, contract-based role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and instructional effectiveness of our educational materials.
About the Role
As a Contract Content Reviewer, you will evaluate content, primarily multiple-choice questions and instructional text, to ensure its quality and alignment with a specific introductory psychology textbook. This is a great opportunity for a subject-matter expert who is passionate about teaching and committed to delivering high-quality educational resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Alignment: Review and verify that question content accurately aligns with the provided textbook's content and learning objectives.
- Alignment Gap Analysis: Identify any topics or learning objectives from the textbook that are not adequately covered by the existing content.
- Clarity and Accuracy: Evaluate questions and accompanying explanations for clarity, precision, and factual accuracy. Identify and correct any errors, ambiguities, or misleading information.
- Feedback and Collaboration: Provide detailed, constructive feedback on content, offering suggestions for improvement and working with our editorial team to resolve content-related issues.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all reviewed content meets our quality standards and pedagogical best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Master's degree or Ph.D. in psychology or sociology or a closely related field.
- Teaching Experience: At least four semesters of teaching or TA experience for psychology or sociology at the college level (ex: at four-year university, community college, or AP-level high school) OR two or more years developing psychology or sociology content for an educational publisher.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge of introductory psychology or sociology topics and a strong understanding of how to assess student learning in this subject.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for errors in both content and grammar.
- Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills to provide clear, actionable feedback.
- Technical Proficiency: Able to learn web-based technology quickly. Some experience with HTML required. Comfort and prior experience with online collaboration tools, specifically Google Docs/Workspace is required. Familiarity with workflow management tools (e.g., Jira, Airtable) is highly desired.
- Familiarity with EdTech: Experience with online learning platforms or content management systems is a plus.
Compensation: Contract Rate of $35/hr. Hours will be submitted through an online payment system and approved by the Project Manager.
We also ask for at least 15 hours of availability most weeks (time away is fine, but we need to know in advance). As a contractor, you will need to provide your own computer to complete the work, and there are no additional benefits provided. Proof US Citizen is required and will need to complete a W9 form.
