Job Summary
Coordinates the undergraduate nursing admissions processes for the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences, including the Traditional BSN, Accelerated Option (AO) BSN, RN-BSN, and RNBSN/ MSN pathways. Responsibilities include prospective student recruitment, admissions communications, application processing, transcript evaluation, applicant record maintenance, event coordination, and day-to-day admissions operations.
Coordinates the student application process for the Traditional BSN, Accelerated Option (AO) BSN, RN-BSN, and RN-BSN/MSN pathways. Works with prospective students throughout the recruitment and admissions process and assists in the dissemination of academic and admissions information.
Assists the Chair of Undergraduate Nursing and designees on prospective student issues. Reports application and admission data as needed and assists with the admission decision-making process.
Serves as a resource for prospective undergraduate nursing applicants by providing admissions guidance and program information. Serves as backup support for pre-admission advising as needed and refers students to the appropriate academic advisor for advising-related matters.
Responsible for proactive pre-admissions and admissions communications with prospective students and applicants through university and university approved software systems.
Reviews transcripts, verifies prerequisite coursework, determines the relevance of prior degrees, calculates admission GPAs, and extracts academic information necessary for admissions review across all undergraduate nursing pathways.
Creates, updates, and maintains accurate application and admission data for undergraduate nursing programs for accurate tracking and reporting.
Maintains undergraduate nursing application requirements and supporting materials within NursingCAS and assists with annual application updates to ensure admissions information remains accurate and current.
Participates in undergraduate nursing recruitment activities, including open houses, clinical site visits, college fairs, class visits, and other internal and external recruitment events. Serves as backup support for information sessions as needed. Assists with reviewing admissions materials, website content, and recruitment resources to ensure information remains current.
Serves as liaison with University Admissions, Registrar, and other university offices to facilitate admissions processing and communicate program requirements to prospective applicants and students.
Assists with the implementation and evaluation of undergraduate nursing admissions procedures and provides recommendations to improve workflow efficiency and customer service.
Ensures compliance with FIU policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing admissions and student records.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.
