Position Summary  | The Coordinator, Athletic Communications will assist the Director, Athletics Communications with the internal and external media distribution for Stevenson University’s Athletics Department, with a primary focus on the department’s video/webcasting efforts. The Coordinator, Athletic Communications supervises student employees during game day management of the broadcast and serves as the primary athletic contact for select programs. The Coordinator will also take a primary role in the video production of live sporting events.

Education/Experience  | Bachelor’s Degree plus Collegiate level experience with a commitment to Division III philosophy and experience with NCAA or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of sports information or athletics video experience in web design, NCAA LiveStats, Presto LiveStats, Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.), Adobe and other publishing software preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Production Truck, Tricasters, and HUDL.Valid driver license with good driving record: must be insurable.

Ability to research, compose, proofread, and identify suggested edits to drafts for special occasion presentations. Skill in prioritizing workflow and managing resources. Information research, analysis, and evaluation skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in technical and computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Web Design, NCAA LiveStats, Presto LiveStats, Adobe Creative Suite, the Internet and other relevant software, plus operation of standard office equipment. Knowledge of video production utilizing Newtek Tricaster and Production Truck. Proficiency in new social media and file management software including technical and computer skills related to the full utilization of marketing tools including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with portable and peripheral office/business tools. Basic knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines. Experience in managing a diverse staff to meet performance goals. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required. Adheres to departmental policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of the University, the MAC, and the NCAA. Ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the University including, but not limited to, student-athletes, parents, recruits, coaches, athletic training staff, and athletic department staff. Travel is a requirement of this position. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Evening and weekend hours are a requirement of this position.

Physical Requirements  | Medium work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position includes inside, outside, and sedentary work. Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel between facilities necessary. Lifting required (i.e. – setup of scorer’s table, etc.), some manual labor is expected. Because of the location of athletic facilities on and off campus, organizing and some transportation between facilities is expected.

Essential Functions  | Serve as part of the Athletic Communications staff with the media and other sports information end-users for 28 NCAA and 12 Club Sports. Assist the Director, Athletic Communications in all aspects of athletics communication, including but not limited to: design and maintenance of Athletics website; production of media guides; recruitment and supervision of student assistants; the writing of several department publications including recruiting literature for individual sports teams; management of press box/table, statistics and reporting of results; promotion/nomination for various national and conference awards; recording and archiving of school records and serving as primary athletic department media liaison with the NCAA and each of our member conferences. Provide daily information to coaches and administration regarding athletic communications, media, web design, etc. Assist in the hiring, interviewing, oversight and supervision of student workers and interns assigned to game day coverage. Work closely with Marketing & Digital Communications office to coordinate joint efforts as well as student media. Work within the Arms and Teamworks Hub software as needed. Work with Institutional Advancement to aid in fundraising initiatives and to promote the Campaign for Mustang Athletics on an annual basis. Promote and participate in community service activities to build the connection between our department and the community. Attend Staff meetings as required. Be available to travel with teams and work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Serve on committees as needed.
