Job Description:
Salary: $50,000.00 - $51,500.00 per year; DOE
Under general supervision, the ASU GEAR Up Coordinator Sr will focus on building partnerships between ASU, schools, families, and community organizations to promote college access and success for students. The Coordinator Senior will work as part of a team to achieve the goals and objectives of the program.
Days and Schedule: Primary work location is the ASU Tempe campus; however, the incumbent will regularly be required to regularly travel to off-campus to event sites as needed, and other ASU campuses, as needed, to perform work, and community events. Transportation will not be provided by the department/ASU -mileage reimbursement provided based on available funding and ASU mileage reimbursement policies. This position is a Full-time, In-Person position with a work schedule that will be flexible, depending on when programs are offered, to include nights and weekends. On days when programs are not offered, work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Essential Duties:
- Develops and implements community engagement strategies to increase awareness and participation in ASU GEAR UP programs.
- Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with school administrators, families, community partners, and local organizations.
- Collaborates with ASU departments and community agencies to expand resources and opportunities for students and families.
- Performs tasks related to a specific function/program assigned, such as marketing, development of projects, and implementation of goals.
- Work as part of a team to support Access ASU and GEAR UP programs and goals; represents GEAR Up Programs and professionally represents and serves on various department and university committees that enhance the ASU GEAR UP student experience.
- Identifies, develops, and maintains working relationships with the university and community agencies for support of program participants.
- Works with management team to Collecting, inputting, and monitoring data as needed for reporting; Using data trends for intentional programming and evaluate effectiveness.
- Develop and provide presentations regarding the application, admission, and enrollment of students into postsecondary programs.
- Coordinates and directs activities and functions of multiple programs, ensuring that the goals and objectives of the programs are accomplished.
- Oversee the development and facilitation of workshops and meetings, monitors logistics, scheduling, and participant communications.
- Represents university in public relations/liaison capacity on matters relating to function, program, and production.
- Supports the administration of multiple GEAR Up Program in collaboration with GEAR Up Programs Leadership and Educational Outreach and Student Services.
- Attends professional development opportunities to enhance program success.
- Primary work location is on the ASU Tempe campus, however work for this position may occur with the communities where Gear Up services are provided.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Higher Education, preferred. Doctorate preferred or in progress.
- Experience working with:
- Community Outreach
- Post-Secondary Education Pathways
- Students in higher education.
- Prospective student populations including first generation students/families.
- GEAR Up or other federal grant programs.
- Federal Financial Aid
- Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases.
- Experience with systems including Salesforce, Performance Insights, Canva, and Stova
- Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish - speak, read, and write.
- Experience with completing assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under priority deadlines.
- Experience with grant writing, preferably federal grants
- Experience in planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of others.
- Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting needs for GEAR UP ASU program.
- Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with diverse populations and groups.

- Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing, and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen and using mouse and keyboard.
- Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze data.
- Research, develop, implement, and assess programs.
- Develop budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Supervise students and/or staff.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather.
- Work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
- Climb stairs in locations with no elevator, such as with the mezzanine level of the MU, or Irish Hall
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.

Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success. EOSS provides a broad range of services and support to students and prospective students ranging from outreach efforts with K-12 schools, orientation programs for new freshman, bridge programs to assist the transition to a university environment, and a wide variety of services, programs and activities for enrolled students. EOSS has direct responsibility for multiple departments across four campuses, some of which include the Dean of Students, University Housing, Health Services, Counseling Services, Disability Resources, the Memorial Union, GEAR Up programs, Sun Devil Fitness, Student Government, Student Media, Career Services, Access ASU and others.
