Job Description Summary

The Counseling Center Outreach Specialist is a full-time, exempt position responsible for supporting the implementation of the Counseling Center's outreach and prevention program and managing day-to-day operations.. Reporting to the Coordinator for Outreach and Consultation Services, this position requires a foundation in public health or related fields and strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. Working collaboratively as a part of a team, the primary focus of the position is campus engagement through the development and implementation of initiatives, communications, and programs to promote student mental health, with an emphasis on proactive prevention efforts that promote wellbeing, resilience, skill-building, and connection. This position also collaborates with campus partners, faculty, and student organizations to expand the reach and impact of mental health promotion efforts, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in programming. Additionally, the role contributes to the continual assessment and evaluation of the Center's outreach and prevention program, which informs the program's strategic development and expansion.

Responsibilities


Develop a strategy for the Counseling Center's outreach programming and campus engagement in collaboration with the Coordinator for Outreach and Consultation Services
Develops, plans, and facilitates preventative mental health programming on campus while also assisting the Coordinator for Outreach and Consultation Services with the management of the Center's signature outreach programs and initiatives
Serves on the Counseling Center's outreach committee and collaborates with the committee to create psychoeducational and promotional content on behalf of the Counseling Center
Serves on the Mental Health Coalition along with the Coordinator for Outreach and Consultation Services
Contributes to the Counseling Center's social media presence at both the strategy and implementation levels.
Partners with the Coordinator for Outreach and Consultation Services to strengthen campus connections and collaborations with departments involved in mental health and wellness outreach.
Supports the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Center's outreach programming and efforts.
Researches, monitors, and applies emerging trends in University Counseling Center outreach and prevention.
Helps with administrative tasks related to the functioning of the outreach program (e.g. room reservations, grant requests, data tracking, outreach request management)
Requires occasional evening and weekend work to support outreach events
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, health education, or related field
Strong written and verbal communicator with a collaborative mindset
Detail-oriented, proactive, and dependable in seeing projects through, while effectively prioritizing competing demands

Preferred qualifications

Masters degree in public health, social work, health education, or related field
Demonstrated skill using evidence-based strategies to develop, implement, promote, and evaluate comprehensive health promotion initiatives and programs
Knowledgeable of current research and best practices in the areas of health promotion, public health, and community engagement
Familiarity with mental health concerns and trends in the higher education population
Experience delivering psychoeducational trainings
Creative and confident using Canva and Google Workspace tools for content creation
Experienced in developing engaging social media content across multiple platforms
Up-to-date on digital and social media trends that connect with student audiences
Strategic thinker who enjoys finding fresh ways to reach and inspire students
Commitment to inclusivity and promoting health in diverse communities

Minimum Qualifications: 
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in related field.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
