HJF is seeking a Curriculum Developer who facilitates the identification of learning objectives. Transforms the informational products developed by the health language and military culture experts into an educational product applicable to both a classroom setting and automated formats. Transforms information into an education and/or training curriculum. Maintains the basic framework/structure of the information while transforming the product into products that facilitate education and training. Shapes the curriculum to meet the education and training requirements of different student populations. Researches training audiences and utilizes design and instructional methodologies appropriate for the audience. Contributes to post-training assessment activities designed to assess the effectiveness of the training activities.    

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP), which is based in Bethesda, MD. The Curriculum Developer will assist with activities related to CDP’s mission, which is to lead the development of a community of military culturally mindful and clinically competent providers through the delivery of high-quality training and education, the convening of experts, and the dissemination of research-based treatment and the latest topics in military behavioral health. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support to the Center. CDP strives to be the central hub for the Military Health System (MHS) in the development and implementation of training and education to clinicians in order to ensure that all service members, veterans, and their families receive quality behavioral healthcare that meets their unique needs.

Responsibilities: 
  • Applies curriculum and instructional design methodologies to information products and processes.
  • Plans and monitors curriculum and instructional design processes.
  • Participates and facilitates team discussion related to curriculum/instructional design.
  • Provides education/training on curriculum/instructional design methods, processes, and standards.
  • Prepares instructional aides; worksheets, workbooks, exercises, and homework.
  • Evaluates education and training audiences.
  • Applies curriculum/instructional design methods and processes to shape instructional products to best match the intended audience.
  • Participates in activities related to the identification of curricula to meet educational needs (new, existing or unmet) in the field of global health engagement.
  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates the design and presentation of educational programs. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree required. Master's Degree in Education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Knowledge of principles and practice of academic curriculum/instructional design to include storyboard development, curriculum/instructional design and development methods, adult learning principals and methods, health terminology and principals, and international engagement principals and methods.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development models including the ADDIE model. 
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint and other content creation platforms (e.g., Articulate). 
  • Possess strong management, teaching, public speaking, organizational and communications skills, as well as an educational or professional background in healthcare and teaching adult learners.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust Clearance.

Physical Capabilities 
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment
  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation
  • The annual salary range for this position is $73,800-$101,200. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
