The SEMI Foundation has been awarded a (HRTP) grant in California, through which we will develop customized training for workers and employers in the microelectronics industry. This grant is part of the Foundation’s national (SCAN) program. This role is part of a team that will support this work throughout the state.

THE ROLE:
The SEMI Foundation is seeking a Curriculum Developer and Training Manager with excellent organizational and communications skills to design, develop, and where appropriate, deliver training programs and train-the-trainer programs through the Foundation’s HRTP grant and SCAN program. The Manager will analyze employer data, worker wisdom, and training partner capabilities to update, revise, and create curriculum and training programs. The Manager will also assist the SEMI Foundation in becoming a certified training body. This position is based anywhere in California and will be considered remote if outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. The position requires regular statewide travel and occasional travel to SEMI Foundation headquarters in Milpitas, California.

We are looking for someone to join the Foundation team that understands the workforce development and educational landscape in California and who is eager to build and support equitable and inclusive programs. The Manager will work in close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including employers, training providers, secondary and post-secondary education, community-based organizations, staff from the California Workforce Development Board, California Division of Apprenticeship Services, and other government agencies as needed. The Manager will in particular be the liaison between colleges and employers, translating between the two partner groups and developing or overseeing the development of a curriculum that meets both workers' and industry's needs. The Manager will also explore the SEMI Foundation’s growth into becoming a certifying body for training. 

The successful candidate will bring significant organizational and interpersonal skills to the table. The Manager will need to be creative, energetic, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and projects at any given time. CORE QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • 5-8 years as a curriculum developer/trainer and related processes
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum and curriculum development in California education systems, especially at the community college level; knowledge of processes, potential challenges and roadblocks, workarounds, and opportunities
  • Experience in navigating successful relationships with multiple partners who have different goals and ways of operating
  • Experience in working with state agencies for approvals
  • Adept in working with community college instructors and administrators; adept in working with employer representatives; ability to drive consensus and agree on common goals
  • Advanced problem solving and project management skills
  • Takes initiative and ownership of work; high attention to detail; able to manage schedules and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work and communicate with a range of audiences from students to employers
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Availability to travel throughout California on a regular basis (up to 20% of your time)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Working knowledge of the Career and Technical Education System: K-12 educational system; community colleges and universities; Adult Education other public education institutions
  • Experience working in California government or educational institutions
  • Experience working in Registered Apprenticeship programs
  • Knowledge of funding providers in California that can assist in reimbursable training for companies
  • Experience in the microelectronics/semiconductor industry

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Curriculum Development and Deployment
  • Build and implement contract education and customized training programs to address industry needs
  • Liaise between colleges, employers, and other partners in the design process
  • Analyze employer data, worker wisdom, and training provider resources 
  • Develop, revise, amend, and/or update existing curriculum, ensuring it maps to changing and dynamic employer needs
  • When/where appropriate, deliver training modules to participants
  • Create train-the-trainer modules for employers, recommending best practices
  • Support employers in adopting mentoring and providing resources and recommendations for internal staff development as appropriate

Support SEMI Foundation Becoming a Training Provider
  • Strategize and conduct discovery around SEMI Foundation becoming a certifying body / providing industry recognized credentials
  • Learn about assets such as the SEMI U learning platform and external partner offerings that may be integrated into Foundation training programs
  • Evaluate the Foundation’s capability, readiness, advantages, and pathways for becoming a training provider
  • Create and implement a plan for the certification process

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
  • HRTP program curriculum is relevant, equitable, high-quality, and maps to industry needs
  • HRTP program participants access relevant training that prepares them for current industry jobs
  • SEMI Foundation becomes a respected training provider in our industry

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 
  • BS/BA degree or relevant experience 
  • 5-8 years as a curriculum developer/trainer and related processes
