Under general direction, the Customer Service Specialist will assist ASU visitors and guests through staffing the California Center Enrollment Services front desk in downtown Los Angeles, assisting with logistical planning of events including customer service, data management, and similar duties as assigned. This position ensures the highest quality service delivered to customers for campus visits, appointments, and events in accordance with specified guidelines and priorities and ensures that service challenges are addressed and rectified quickly. In support of the university mission and goals, Admission Services creates and promotes the broadest possible awareness of ASU as the New American University. This is accomplished through meaningful interactions and customer service throughout the college search and enrollment processes.
Position Salary: $25.50 per hour
Essential Duties:
- Staff the ASU California Center Enrollment Services front desk to include opening and closing of the department business hours when appropriate, prepping the space for campus visits, setting up the technology in the space, welcoming visitors, and working closely with enrollment services staff and student workers.
- Respond to phone and voicemail inquiries.
- Ensure the goals and objectives for campus visits, appointments and events are accomplished in accordance with Enrollment Services priorities, ASU priorities, time limitations and funding limitations.
- Build and maintain forms and communications for campus visits and events.
- Maintain and administer databases relied upon to create a successful campus visit, student appointment, or event.
- Provide quality assurance checks involving post-event attendance reports.
- Represent ASU at the front desk and at campus visit and event activities.
- Communicate with visitors, fellow staff and ASU partners in a positive, helpful, and professional manner.
- Resolve customer issues received through personal contact and electronic systems.
- Maintain flexibility with daily activities and be able to quickly change priorities to address needs and/or resolve customer issues and address needs such as special events and peak activity periods to service guests.
- Report problems and issues to supervisor.
- Ensure highest quality service delivered to customers for assigned function and/or program in accordance with specified guidelines and priorities.
- Provide enhanced customer service and assists with self-service activities.
- Apply knowledge of policies and processes to educate and inform customers.
- Ensure the facility is in good condition and consistently delivers high quality service to prospective students, families and staff.
- Position is located at ASU California Center Grand (919 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90015) and requires that the Customer Service Specialist work on-site every workday, Monday through Friday (8 a.m.—5 p.m.).

Working Environment:
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.Regular use of standard office equipment including but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals; this position receives regular review of objectives. Occasional evenings and weekends are expected.
