About Our Team
The Content and Data Analytics team is part of DataOps, an integral part of Global Operations at Elsevier. The team provides data analysis services, primarily using Databricks, mostly serving product owners and data scientists of Elsevier's Research Data Platform, contributing to leading data analytics products including Scopus and SciVal.
About the Role
A Data Analyst III has a basic understanding of best practices and can execute on projects and initiatives with supervision from others, creating basic level insights and recommendations while beginning to lead analytics efforts with low complexity.
Responsibilities
- Support Data Scientists/Product Owners working within the Domains of the Research Data Platform.
- Dive into large datasets to answer questions from product owners or data scientists.
- Perform large-scale data preparation to test hypotheses or support prototypes.
- Review the precision and recall of data science algorithms at scale and surface these as dashboard metrics.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Data Scientists and Product Managers, presenting achievements and project status updates to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum work experience of 3 years.
- Coding skills in at least one programming language (preferably Python) and SQL.
- Familiarity with regular expressions and string manipulation functions.
- Experience with Pandas, Apache Spark/Databricks, Snowflake SQL, and Collibra.
- Knowledge of basic statistics relevant to data science (precision, recall, F-score).
- Knowledge of visualization tools such as Tableau/Power BI is a plus.
