Duties: Analyze, manipulate, or process large sets of data using statistical software and SQL. Collect and combine data from multiple sources. Clean and manipulate raw data using statistical software and SQL. Perform feature extraction and apply these features in models predicting outcomes of interest. Compare models using statistical performance metrics. Create graphs, charts, or other visualizations to convey the results of data analysis using specialized software. Test, validate, and reformulate models to ensure accurate prediction of outcomes of interest. Design data collection methods for external data (e.g. web scraping) to collect data for use in modelling and analysis. Develop analytic plans, engineer supporting algorithms, write new functions or applications in programming languages to conduct analyses, and design and implement solutions to execute analytic plans. Deliver oral or written presentations of the results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users.

Requirements: Master's Degree plus 3 years relevant hand's-on experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 year's hand's-on experience. Degree must be in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or Computer Science or in a related field (e.g., Computer Information Systems, Engineering). In either case, relevant "Hand's-On" experience must include the following: (A) 3 (or 5) years' experience with Data visualization tools, such as Tableau, D3.js, GGplot, etc.; and/or common data science toolkits, such as Anaconda Python, Apache MADlib, and R; and Scripting and programming skills, particularly in Python and PL/pgSQL; (B) 1 year experience with Machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests; and Query languages, PostgreSQL preferred; and (C) 1 semester of coursework, training or experience with applied statistics skills, such as a strong understanding of distributions, ability to perform statistical testing, regression, etc.
 
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed and/or respond 24/7 to critical issues. Position reports to West Lafayette campus in Tippecanoe County (Eastern Standard Time). Telecommuting from home office permitted from within the United States. All requirements may be satisfied concurrently. Background Check required.
 
The wage range for this opportunity is $72,700 - $129,500 (S075 payband)
