Daytime User Support Tech Full Description

Central Virginia Community College, located in Lynchburg, Virginia, is hiring a Daytime User Support Tech. This position provides support and responds to information technology work requests primarily involving routine user assistance and support for computer software, hardware repair, maintenance, and support for audio/visual equipment.
The position develops documentation including user tips and instructions, and procedures to streamline tasks performed by other Information Technology staff. Duties include documenting problem resolution/status and forwarding more complex issues to higher-level staff, installing computers and associated peripherals, and performing routine software upgrades. The position serves as a member of the Information Technology team and assists other IT staff in problem resolution and in the coordination/completion of information technology projects and tasks, including lab reloads, hardware upgrades, and audio/visual setup.
Required Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the installation, planning, repair and maintenance of computers, associated peripheral equipment, and desktop software programs including Microsoft Office, and audio/visual equipment
  • Familiarity with local area networks
  • Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting methods and procedures, equipment testing, and use of diagnostic hardware and software tools
  • Experience working with Windows 10 and Windows 11
  • Excellent customer service skills
Additional Considerations
AAS in Computer Information Systems or related field. An equivalent combination of training and experience may substitute for education and experience.
