Description
At Joyce University, the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction plays a pivotal role in shaping an exceptional learning experience. Reporting to the Provost, this leader drives faculty development, coaching, curriculum innovation, and instructional excellence through the Center of Excellence for Teaching. With a focus on growth, impact, and collaboration, the Dean oversees the Center’s development, management, and ongoing evaluation. Success in this role means working closely with academic leadership, faculty, instructional design teams, and learning support staff — all united in advancing the university’s commitment to outstanding teaching and student success.

WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY:
  • Collaborate with the Deans, academic leaders, and faculty to develop and articulate a uniform, detailed curriculum, including alignment of professional guidelines and standards.
  • Influence innovative andragogy and pedagogy strategies to engage students in learning.
  • Oversee curriculum to ensure student success and the excellence of all academic programs at the University.
  • Suggest recommendations to Deans regarding gaps identified from data in the curriculum based on professional standards and guidelines.
  • Identify, promote, implement, and evaluate new and innovative curricula.
  • Partner proactively with Academic Deans, Program Chairs, faculty, and students to provide an accurate and well-articulated curriculum plan.
  • Assist the Academic Deans with identifying curriculum objectives and implementing the appropriate assessments to ensure outcomes and objectives are being met.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and use of curriculum mapping.
  • Oversee a resource review process, including textbooks, eBooks, and other curriculum resources.
  • Prepare a semester and annual report on the state of the curriculum, including proposed changes and additional resources needed to support teaching and learning.
  • Oversee training and orientation of faculty in all aspects of curriculum delivery and student/faculty interaction.
  • Assist Academic Deans with faculty goal-setting, and classroom observations, offering insight for the enhancement of effective instruction.
  • Supervise the Instructional Design team designed to provide faculty and curriculum input and support. 
  • Identify and support the implementation of appropriate faculty training, orientation, mentoring, and coaching activities to create faculty excellence.
  • Support the development and supervision of the training, orientation, and assessment of new faculty to orient them to the curriculum, course requirements, and assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Deans to determine what areas of growth are needed to develop faculty and keep current on the trends and innovation in higher education. 
  • Support the development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of the faculty academy and continuing education opportunities. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
WHAT YOU'VE ACCOMPLISHED:     
  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Terminal degree (PhD, or professional doctorate degree) from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in higher education related to faculty development and coaching.
  • Experience with creating faculty training and development. 
  • Experience participating in institution and/or programmatic accreditation processes.
  • Experience leading or participating in faculty development and training evaluation processes.
  • Minimum three years of master's or doctoral teaching experience, preferably in an online modality.
  • Experience creating and delivering faculty development and training.
  • Experience with learning management systems (Canvas preferred), web-based survey design tools, and/or other platforms to develop and implement training. 
  • Experience with web-based project management platforms (Asana preferred).
