Job Summary  | As a member of the Prospect Management and Research team, the Development Associate supports the major gift fundraisers in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations in their efforts to raise philanthropic dollars for the advancement of UT Dallas. This position will be an integral player in driving prospect management and growing the major gift prospect pool.
Minimum Education and Experience  | Bachelor’s degree plus one to three years of experience in prospect research or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Education and Experience  | Minimum Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree. One year of experience in prospect research or a related field. Demonstrated proficiency in data collection, verification and analysis. Familiar with internet search strategies and able to determine validity of online sources. Demonstrated ability to prioritize a variety of tasks and maintain multiple projects. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others and a strong commitment to customer service. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher. One to three years of successful development or prospect research experience in a non-profit or institution of higher education. Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge. Experience with ResearchPoint or other online prospect research tools. Understanding of the principals of fundraising and philanthropy.
Other Qualifications  | To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities  | Proactively identify new major gift prospects to build a pipeline that meets strategic priorities and objectives for the department. Collect, analyze, and synthesize information from multiple sources and articulate findings to create concise and confidential research reports. Using public wealth indicators, identify and evaluate hard and soft assets to estimate donor gift capacity. Respond to requests from gift officers for giving capacity, business details, areas of philanthropic interest, and other relevant information for current and prospective donors in a timely manner. Collaborate with research requestors to identify specific research needs and participate in prospect strategy discussions. Monitor news sources for information on prospective and existing donors and trends in business, higher education, and philanthropy. Distribute news alerts as appropriate. Assist in maintaining partnerships with frontline fundraisers to effectively manage prospect assignments and moves management processes. Effectively use the University’s database and record keeping system for information storage and retrieval while collaborating with data team to maintain data integrity and information flow. Stay current with and use emerging research protocols, techniques, subscriptions and tools to achieve results. Maintain highest standards of discretion and confidentiality. Perform related duties as assigned.
