The Writing Revolution (TWR) is a nonprofit organization that aims to enable students, especially those from historically marginalized communities, to become proficient writers, readers, and critical thinkers. TWR trains and supports teachers and school leaders in implementing the Hochman Method, an explicit set of evidence-based strategies for teaching expository writing that can be used in all grade levels and subject areas.

Job Summary
The Digital Marketing Specialist will have expertise in digital ad management, email marketing, SEO, and social media management to drive brand awareness, sales conversions, lead generation, and customer engagement. This role requires a data-driven mindset, strategic thinking, and the ability to optimize campaigns across multiple digital platforms. When confronted with the unknown, the Digital Marketing Specialist responds with “Let’s find out!”
Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategy & Planning: Plan, create, and optimize digital marketing strategies aligned with overall business objectives across platforms. Contribute to the overall brand awareness and reputation of the organization and its mission.
- Channel Management: Manage social media accounts, implement and run email marketing campaigns, run and optimize paid advertising campaigns, and support the organization’s online presence, including website content and SEO.
- Campaign Management: Create and manage digital marketing campaigns for educators and donors, at times in partnership with other departments within the organization such as sales, development, and program experience. Monitor and analyze performance metrics to ensure campaign effectiveness and ROI.
- Optimization and experimentation: Analyze data from digital marketing campaigns and tactics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Proactively generate and iterate strategies to optimize ROI and organic engagement. Conduct A/B testing and audience targeting strategies to improve ad engagement, SEM, and conversion rates.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into tactics. Proactively report back with performance data and insights. Stay up to date with the latest trends in digital advertising and implement best practices to make recommendations.
- Data Management & Security: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Content Creation & Management: Develop and differentiate engaging and relevant marketing content for different digital platforms in partnership with the Product, Creative, and Web Solutions teams.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field. Will consider candidates with equivalent real world experience.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in digital marketing, with a strong focus on paid ads, email marketing, SEO/SEM, and/or social media. Preferred experience in edtech or K12 education.
- Certifications (Preferred): Google Ads, Google Analytics, Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate, HubSpot.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in digital advertising platforms. Familiarity with HubSpot, Pardot, or similar email management system, Sprout Social or similar social media management system, LinkedIn Ads, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Wordpress, Google Ads, Google Workspace, and Canva.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical thinking and data analysis; capable of identifying opportunities and designing effective strategies using data insights.
- Interpersonal Skills: A proactive, creative, and results-driven mindset; adept at building and maintaining professional relationships.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; detail-oriented; strong executive function.
