General Information:
Student Affairs Communications and Marketing supports all areas of Student Affairs by providing graphic design, photography, videography and social media. Our work aligns with the Student Affairs mission to engage all students in accessible and inclusive learning, growth and personal development opportunities and experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Social Media
- Content strategy for Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) social media
- Provide social media consultation and direction for unit-level accounts by implementing proven marketing techniques and strategic practices.
- Stay current with social media best practices and trends to assist in future planning.
- Coordinate content placement schedules and strategies by deploying teams of creative student employees to create deliverables, determining appropriate promotional channels and developing measurable goals.
- Analyze social media data and make recommendations.
- Conduct an annual audit of Student Affairs social media accounts.
Marketing and Communications
- Recommend effective marketing campaign strategies and deliverables for Student Affairs units.
- Apply fundamentals of marketing across all efforts to maintain brand consistency, appeal to target audience(s), and examine demographics to make informed marketing decisions.
- Analyze previous marketing campaigns and identify areas for improvement based on current best practices, target audience(s) and success of previous campaign.
- Develop weekly student email, Dukes Weekly, and other divisional communication using the university’s CRM system.
Supervision and Support
- Supervise a Graduate Assistant.
- Provide secondary supervision for VPSA social media student employee.
- Provide professional development relating to best practices in social media accessibility and trends.
Departmental Technology Support
- Serve in a web content manager role within the university content management system, Cascade, for SACM.
- Serve as technical administrator of SACM’s software systems.
- Represent department within the University-wide Technology Coordinators Committee.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Knowledge of marketing principles, theories and techniques.
- Proven experience with content management systems.
- Experience managing social media business accounts on various platforms.
- Experience planning, strategizing and executing appropriate content placement.
- Demonstrated experience planning and placing meaningful content.
- Demonstrated experience creating multi-channel marketing campaigns and analyzing results.
- Strong organization and planning skills, including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Considerations:
- Understanding of Brandwatch or similar content management tool.
- Familiarity with web and social media accessibility standards.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Experience working within cross-functional marketing and creative teams.
