Implements and manages teams that provide instructional design support for in one or more units to develop resources and materials to support teaching and learning. Collaborates in the creation of instructional design strategy for the unit.
Job Description:
Enterprise Technology's Learning Experience team partners across the ASU Enterprise to advance effective, impactful, and delightful technological experiences in campus and digital immersion learning environments. ASU's leadership in AI — both as a technology and a driver of human learning and creativity — calls for the addition of a team member who can bring strategic vision and strengthen action and data-driven partnerships across the university and with external partners.
The Director, AI Engagement, will lead cross-enterprise collaboration, partnering closely with the Office of the University Provost to accelerate institutional goals through the strategic application of artificial intelligence. In partnership with the Provost's office, this role is responsible for advancing measurable academic impact for both students and faculty by coordinating partnerships, scaling innovative practices, and ensuring alignment with ASU's mission of access, excellence, and principled innovation.
The successful candidate will have experience driving initiatives within higher education, creating trusted relationships across the enterprise. You will establish and extend data systems that track the impact of AI efforts at various points in the adoption and integration lifecycle. You will lead and expand a team of AI Learning Specialists who will drive strategy and adoption.
As with all members of the Enterprise Technology team, this role carries core responsibilities, including fostering a sense of belonging and cultivating a culture that is relational, visionary, and empowering. Essential Duties:
- Partner with the Office of the University Provost to guide strategic initiatives that integrate AI into teaching, learning, research, and operations to improve student success and faculty effectiveness.
- Design and implement systems to measure and report the impact of AI adoption and integration across the institution.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with academic, administrative, and external partners to advance outcomes.
- Supervise and extend the AI Learning Specialists team, providing mentorship and professional growth.
- Ensure ethical and responsible use of AI technologies in alignment with ASU's principled innovation framework.
- Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit's efficiency and overall performance.
- Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
- Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.

Working Environment:
- Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate-controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces.
- This role involves regular use of a computer (desktop and/or laptop), including a keyboard and mouse.
- Effective communication and proficiency with a variety of technologies are essential for collaboration with the broader team.
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Regular responsibilities may require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
