Position Overview:

The Director of Content leads the team responsible for creating and executing content strategies to meet overall business objectives and ecosystem needs. This role requires close collaboration with the Brand and Design team to ensure brand-aligned and goal-oriented content. This role involves analyzing marketing data, conducting content audits, and working with cross-functional teams to understand the target audience and industry trends. Additionally, they administer departmental policies, partnering with key stakeholders on thought leadership programs, and streamline content approval processes.

What You'll Do

  • Manages a team of Content Managers and Coordinators that are responsible for producing the right content for our business and each ecosystem.  
  • Create and execute content strategies to drive business goals and channel objectives.  
  • Collaborate with the Brand and Design team to produce engaging content that is consistent with the brand and addresses both business goals and consumer needs. 
  • Plan, develop, and oversee execution of content marketing and copywriting initiatives to support projects throughout the organization.  
  • Analyze content marketing data to identify trends and anticipate customer needs to drive strategic direction. Provide constructive, creative recommendations and feedback to implement strategy changes and influence decision-making. 
  • Conduct and lead content audits and gap analyses to assess how well existing content is performing, what’s missing, and what might be needed. 
  • Partner across the organization to develop and enhance all customer communication touchpoints including but not limited to website, email, and social media. 
  • Develop a solid understanding of the target audience by partnering with the CX, UX, and analytics teams and, with them, develop market research and leverage trends. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and monitor content strategy activities. 
  • Partner with the SEO team to tailor all content to best practices for organic search.  
  • Oversee and develop internal training for content requirements, including content maps, models, matrices, guidelines, and strategies; scale best practices across Colibri brands.  
  • Grow, mentor, and lead the content team, building thoughtful processes and strategies that allow them to successfully execute across all channels and initiatives. 
  • Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies. 
  • Partner with brands and key stakeholders to build out thought leadership programs.  
  • Share ongoing learnings and processes across multiple brands within Colibri 
  • Develop a flow for content approval from content producers across Colibri, both internally and externally 
  • Manage other writers on team (FTE or contractor), ensuring adherence to brand standards, voice and tone, and audience insights 

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree required; marketing or communications highly preferred. 
  • 8+ years of related work  
  • Deep experience in content marketing strategy, content planning, development, design, production, analysis, and measurement.  
  • Experience establishing an organization’s editorial voice in conjunction with determining content needs, channel selection, and distribution. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, as well as the journalistic ability to bring stories to life with both short-form and long-form content. 
  • Strong skills in content measurement and analytics including, but not limited to channel metrics, lead generation, lifecycle stages, content tagging and more.  
  • Strong background in creating and maintaining strategic editorial calendars, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and content migration plans.  
  • Experience working across a breadth of content types, including video, audio, written; short- and long-form content.  
  • Ability to develop and document repeatable processes, workflows, and content templates that keep the team nimble and successful in a culture that values moving fast and iterating quickly. 
  • Proven experience creating an audience base that’s connected, motivated, and passionate.  
  • Experience in SEO best practices and SEO tools.  
  • Ability to build programs from scratch, including strategy, implementation and measurement plans. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Knowledge of content management systems, social media channels, and HubSpot (or similar platform).  
  • Background in both B2B and B2C.  
  • Experience managing a small content team and freelancers.
