Director, Employer Engagement Full Description

Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) has built a global reputation based on its immersive and innovative management programs. We provide students a transformative leadership experience, pushing the boundaries of knowledge with faculty research, and offering a portfolio of entrepreneurial and non-degree programs that deliver global impact. We invite you to be part of our mission of developing innovative, principled, and insightful leaders who change lives, change organizations, and change the world.
Success at the GSB is defined by The GSB Way, a commitment to shared purpose, community, and excellence in all that we do. We seek individuals who elevate themselves and those around them through the practice of academic candor, generous collaboration, and bringing curiosity and rigor to solving meaningful problems. At the GSB, impact means taking ownership and contributing to a purpose-driven, collaborative, and high-performing community in service to the institution's mission.
The GSB seeks a Director, Employer Engagement (EE) to lead employer outreach and engagement efforts for the school. Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director of the Career Management Center (CMC), the Director plays a critical role in ensuring that GSB MBA students, MSx students, and alumni have access to career opportunities that reflect their talent, ambition, and potential to lead.
As a member of the CMC’s five-person leadership team, the Director will lead, coach, and develop a team of four EE Managers and contribute to CMC-wide strategy and planning. The Director will shape the school’s short-, medium-, and long-term strategy for employer engagement across a network of hundreds of employers spanning technology, finance, consulting, health care, media and entertainment, and more.
The Director and the EE team design and implement industry-specific strategies to establish contacts, nurture relationships (often with alumni), and execute programs with U.S.-based and global employers. Given the seismic changes in today’s business landscape, with new companies and new job types constantly emerging, the team leverages internal data and external industry resources to track shifting industry dynamics, identify major and emerging employers, understand their evolving hiring needs, and map new opportunities to student interests and career goals. The Director defines how the GSB conveys the value that principled GSB leaders bring to these organizations.
The Director sets the strategy and plan for in-person and virtual recruiting events, partnering with student clubs to manage events that connect employers with students. The Director also establishes how job and internship opportunities are identified, monitored, and shared with students and alumni, sets the strategy for communicating with students about recruiting, and defines the internal guidelines the team follows in approving employers and job postings. The Director sets employer and student recruiting policy in collaboration with the CMC Director and the GSB Chief Compliance Officer, communicates it to employers and students, and holds both accountable as appropriate. With CMC leadership, the Director contributes to the CMC’s communication strategy and partners with the core systems provider on employer engagement product requirements.
