Job Description:
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) at Arizona State University invites applications for an innovative, visionary, and tech-savvy leader to serve as Director of the Fulton Schools Career Center.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with FSE stakeholders including development teams, marketing, undergraduate and graduate program directors, faculty and administrators to contribute to the experiential learning and overall career readiness of our graduates.

The Director will lead a high-performing team to develop and deliver a comprehensive suite of career development services, while strategically leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and emerging technologies to scale impact, personalize student engagement, and meet the evolving demands of a global workforce.

This role will drive cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, integrating career readiness into the student experience and contributing meaningfully to economic development, industry engagement, and innovation initiatives. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute their workforce expertise to various university initiatives, statewide economic development efforts, and corporate engagement activities.

Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000 per year; DOE.
Essential Duties:
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Establish and execute the vision and strategic direction of the Career Center in alignment with FSE and university-wide goals.
    • Oversee a team of career services professionals. Lead hiring, training, development, and performance evaluation.
    • Develop and manage the Career Center's budget, identifying opportunities for strategic investment in innovation and growth.
    • Promote and uphold ethical practices, accessibility, and principles across all services and interactions.
    • Stay informed of emerging standards in career services and workforce development, including AI ethics and digital equity.
  • AI & Technology Integration
    • Evaluate, adopt, and oversee the implementation of AI-powered career platforms, predictive analytics, and personalized learning tools to scale services and improve outcomes.
    • Leverage machine learning insights to anticipate job market trends, recommend career pathways, and match domestic and international students with relevant opportunities.
  • Program Innovation & Execution
    • Design and implement innovative career readiness initiatives tailored to engineering, computing, and technology students.
    • Create scalable experiential learning opportunities, including internships, co-ops, micro-internships, and research placements.
  • International Student Career Success
    • Develop targeted strategies and resources to support the career readiness and employment outcomes of international students, including employer education, immigration policy guidance in collaboration with relevant university offices, and culturally responsive programming.
  • Industry Engagement & Partnerships
    • Cultivate, sustain, and grow strategic partnerships with employers, alumni, and industry leaders to expand pipelines for recruitment and experiential learning.
    • Lead initiatives that bridge academic learning with real-world skills and workforce needs through data-informed talent strategies.
  • Data-Driven Planning & Evaluation
    • Utilize advanced analytics and labor market data to continuously assess program effectiveness, optimize resource allocation, and inform strategic planning.
    • Prepare data-rich reports for institutional stakeholders, accrediting bodies, rankings agencies, and employer partners.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Proven record of progressive leadership in career development, talent acquisition, higher education, or corporate workforce development.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating AI technologies or intelligent systems into student services, HR tech, or career development platforms.
  • Expertise in supervising diverse teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with an ability to lead through change and drive innovation.
  • Experience working with engineering, computing, or STEM populations.
  • Deep understanding of current and future employment trends, digital transformation, and the role of AI in the workforce.
  • Proficiency in using data to drive program decisions and assess ROI.
  • Background in employer-university relations, corporate engagement, or economic development is a plus.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, career development frameworks, and best practices in equitable career education.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion, access, and student success.

Working Environment:
  • Activities include extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse. 
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. 
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. 
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
