Job Description
The Human Resources Director leads and manages the people management related agenda for the institution/business. He/she will be a key contributor on both a strategic and operational level, serving as the business partner to the business team.  He/she will collaborate with Home Office HR Centers of Excellence to execute on a wide range of HR initiatives. The Director will lead major change initiatives, coordinating support from critical HR Shared Services or COEs.  S/he is a seasoned people-manager who is committed to the development of high potential talent within the institution and capable of helping the business accelerate and drive growth. The incumbent is a skilled and transparent communicator, collaborator, and team player.  Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and influencing skills are essential for success.
  • Develops a variety of HR strategies that are practical, measurable, and tightly linked to the organizational goals.
  • Serves as a partner to senior institutional/business leadership, identifying and executing a variety of organizational effectiveness interventions (i.e. performance management, organization design, learning initiatives, teambuilding, 360 assessments, executive coaching) to maximize performance within the institution.
  • Develops and executes plans to meet workforce needs, both in terms of quantity and mix of skills.
  • Utilizes a variety of HR metrics to assess the state of the workforce and the effectiveness of management practices; develops recommendations to address emerging issues.
  • Evaluates engagement survey results, consults with the management team and recommends strategies for addressing vulnerable populations.
  • Partners with the Adtalem Global Education Centers of Excellence (talent management, talent acquisition, colleague relations and total rewards) to ensure the requirements of the institution are reflected in program design. In partnership with the COEs, executes major enterprise processes on behalf of the business.
  • Drives the semi-annual performance management and total compensation process.  Ensures performance evaluation results are calibrated and reflective of the institution’s performance.
  • Is personally invested in the development and retention of high-performing, high-potential colleagues within the business/institution. Regularly meets with key talent, helps to create development plans and ensures the executive leadership of the business keeps the development and retention of talent high on the agenda.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to the institution’s senior leadership on all HR-related matters.
  • Manages the performance and development of the institution’s HR Business Partners (if applicable).
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required and Master degree preferred. 
  • Ten (10) years of broad-based HR experience required with exposure to multiple functional areas within HR.
  • Preferred experience in consulting, HR operations and supporting sales organizations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, matrix organization.
  • Gets results; uses metrics effectively to evaluate people-related programs and drive improvement
  • Possesses the influencing skills required to build commitment and persuade others to take appropriate action.
  • Builds trust and effective working relationships easily across a broad range of people and organizations.
  • Strong facilitation and training skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop win/win solutions.
  • Demonstrated mastery of employment law through professional certification (such as SPHR) or experience/training on the job.
  • Has a track record of confronting difficult HR issues and developing specific action plans to address them.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $100,171.61 and $181,034.70. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
