Position Overview
The Director of Marketing Insights is both a hands-on analyst and strategic leader responsible for delivering actionable insights that drive marketing performance, campaign optimization, and business growth. This hybrid role combines deep technical expertise with business acumen, owning all aspects of reporting, performance analysis, and data storytelling while partnering closely with Marketing, Product, Sales Ops, and Executive Leadership.
This individual will lead the marketing analytics function, manage key dashboards and reporting workflows, execute advanced analysis, and bring clarity to complex marketing data. They will directly support the VP of Demand Generation and cross-functional teams with real-time insights and recommendations, ensuring that marketing investments drive measurable outcomes across the full funnel.
Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
Hands-On Reporting & Data Analysis
- Design, build, and maintain core dashboards and reporting systems to track KPIs across the funnel including MQLs, pipeline, campaign performance, ROI, and engagement metrics.
- Execute day-to-day analysis across marketing channels, campaigns, email, and web to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Deliver regular and ad hoc reporting to support campaign strategy, performance review, forecasting, and investment decisions.
- Proactively identify gaps in reporting and resolve through automation, improved data governance, or dashboard design.
Strategic Marketing Insights & Optimization
Translate marketing data into strategic recommendations, working directly with demand generation, content, digital, and lifecycle teams to enhance performance.
- Own marketing attribution modeling and funnel diagnostics to highlight what's working and what's not.
- Lead A/B test analysis and experimentation reviews across channels to drive ongoing optimization.
Customer Segmentation & Lifecycle Growth
- Partner with product, leadership, and the VP of Demand Generation to operationalize segmentation strategies aligned to ICPs, personas, behavior, and lifecycle stage.
- Drive campaign targeting refinement by layering in engagement signals, buyer journeys, and audience intelligence.
- Collaborate with Sales Operations on cohort analysis, LTV modeling, and churn forecasting to inform marketing tactics and retention strategies.
Funnel & Pipeline Analysis
- Deliver in-depth funnel analysis to highlight stage conversion, velocity, and lead quality.
- Work cross-functionally to optimize the lead-to-revenue pipeline, tracking campaign contribution and sales alignment.
- Provide funnel insights that inform nurture programs, handoff improvements, and scoring strategies.
Marketing Data Infrastructure & Governance
- Ensure data consistency and quality across CRM, marketing automation, and BI tools (Salesforce, Marketo, Power Bi, Looker, etc.).
- Own marketing data hygiene workflows, data enrichment coordination, and standardization of reporting definitions.
- Collaborate with Marketing Ops and Sales Ops on unified data governance practices and agile data updates.
Executive Reporting & Influence
- Create and deliver monthly and quarterly reports for marketing and executive leadership to track progress against OKRs, and performance targets.
- Support strategic planning with data-backed insights and forecasts.
- Be a trusted voice in leadership discussions around marketing efficiency, growth potential, and risk mitigation.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in marketing analytics, business intelligence, or related data roles, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically-comfortable building dashboards and delivering C-level insights.
- Deep expertise in marketing analytics platforms and BI tools such as Google Analytics, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Advanced user of Salesforce and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo, HubSpot) with a strong understanding of marketing and sales funnel data.
- Skilled in SQL, Excel, and data querying tools to support hands-on analysis.
- Proven experience in segmentation, cohort analysis, LTV modeling, and churn forecasting in collaboration with Sales Ops or Revenue teams.
- Strong storytelling and presentation skills-able to translate complex findings into simple, impactful recommendations.
- Experience partnering across Marketing, Product, Sales, and Operations teams to drive alignment and growth.
