Job Summary/Basic Function: | The Director of Media Productions shoots, writes, and edits compelling promotional content for various multimedia marketing for Wright State University. The position uses storytelling, branding, and visual production techniques to create emotionally engaging content that resonates with various audiences and drives marketing objectives for captivating spots in both TV and digital platforms. This role involves end-to-end production, from concept creation and scriptwriting to shooting and editing.
The role manages a staff of professional employees and student workers and collaborates with the University Communications and Marketing leadership team and other campus stakeholders to ensure coverage of internal and external messaging within the lens of institutional goals and priorities as well as ensure alignment in positioning for institutional leadership. This role collaborates extensively with outside firms, freelance support, and internal teams.
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelors Degree. 5+ years of experience in video production, including writing, shooting, and editing commercials or promotional content Proficiency with video production tools (e.g., cameras, lighting, sound equipment). Advanced skills in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, After Effects). Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to create high-quality marketing commercials. Experience with scriptwriting and storytelling for short-form content. Excellent visual storytelling skills and an eye for detail. Have a deep understanding of how to emotionally engage audiences through compelling writing, striking visuals, music, and editing techniques. Ability to work independently and manage the full production process from start to finish. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with clients and team members. Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and social media advertising formats. Knowledge of motion graphics, color grading, and sound design Ability and experience to think strategically – both long and short term. Self-starter with strong problem solving and organizational skills who can inspire and direct others in their work. Proven ability to shepherd projects from concept to completion, enlisting the support and enthusiasm of others in the process. Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications | Degree specifically focused media production, film, communications, or a related field
Direct supervisory experience with shown progressive leadership experience.

Essential Functions and percent of time: | Concept development, scriptwriting, video production, editing, creative direction, and post-production for compelling promotional content for various multimedia marketing content (50%) Concept Development: Collaborate with a team of videographers, photographers, and editors to develop creative concepts for media that align with brand messaging and target audience. Scriptwriting: Write clear, engaging, and persuasive scripts for media, ensuring that the messaging is on point and supports strategies and objectives. Video Production (Shooting): Plan and execute video shoots, including setting up lighting, audio, and camera equipment. Capture high-quality footage for media across various platforms, including television, digital, and social media. Video Editing: Edit raw footage into polished, professional video content using video editing software. Ensure smooth transitions, appropriate pacing, and alignment with the brand’s tone and objectives. Creative Direction: Manage the overall visual style of the commercials, including framing, composition, color grading, and motion graphics, ensuring the final product meets high production standards. Post-Production: Add special effects, graphics, music, and voiceovers where needed to enhance the commercial’s effectiveness. Ensure the final cut is optimized for various formats (TV, digital, social media). Project management of multiple projects simultaneously, managing timelines and deliverables. (15%) · Supervise and manage professional staff, student workers, freelancers, agencies, vendors, and partner relationships. (20%)
