Job Description
This is a remote position.
Position SummaryReporting to the Managing Director, MLL Programs, the Director, MLL Programs has an opportunity to impact the Program team by managing our team of Program Managers and Specialists.
The Director will ensure high-quality, consistent program delivery by leading team management and development, and upholding Ensemble Learning’s strong program quality standards and systems. They will create and maintain the processes needed to support effective execution at scale, working closely with Managers to align team skills, inform decisions and strengthen team capacity. The Director will also provide thought partnership on complex or high-visibility program work to safeguard quality and support strong partner outcomes.
About Ensemble LearningEnsemble Learning is a nonprofit organization that helps schools and districts nationwide transform teaching and leadership to better serve multilingual learners. Since 2016, Ensemble has supported nearly 300 school systems and reached over 100,000 students through professional learning, coaching, and strategic planning. The organization will employ 15-20 staff in 2026, has doubled its footprint in recent years, and operates on a lean $3M annual budget as it builds infrastructure to scale in the coming years.

RequirementsLocation: The is a hybrid position with up to 30% overnight travel including team gatherings and staff observations.
Preferred locations: CA, CO, TX, DMV region
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience ranging from $115,000–$135,000 per year +
generous benefits.
Education: A Masters degree in a field related to English Language Acquisition is required. A doctorate degree in a related field is highly preferred.
Candidate ProfileIdeal Experience- Deep knowledge of Adult Learning Theory, including experience applying transformative coaching models that support educator growth and development
- Strong facilitation skills, including ability to clearly communicate complex ideas, adapt to audience needs and engagement in both virtual and in-person settings
- Extensive experience in bilingual education including: supporting multilingual learners in bilingual & dual language settings
- 5+ years of experience supervising educators at the campus, district, region and/or state level
- Required: Bilingual Spanish
Critical Professional Capabilities
Team Management & Development (40% of time)
- Manage and develop Program staff to ensure strong performance, growth, and retention
- Lead staffing and assignment decisions for program staff based on team capacity, skills, and program needs, in coordination with Program Operations Manager, to support sustainable delivery
- Build team-wide capabilities through targeted training, feedback, and professional development
Program Quality & Standards (35% of time)
- Ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery by upholding and evolving content and coaching standards
- Co-create and maintain quality control systems (e.g., audits, review processes, feedback loops)
- Lead continuous improvement cycles based on feedback, observation, and outcomes
- Codify and maintain internal program resources (e.g., handbook, SOP-linked materials)
Program Delivery & Partner Support (15% of time)
- Review and provide input on high-priority deliverables to ensure quality and alignment with standards
- Support resolution of complex partner situations to ensure strong outcomes and relationships
- Participate in select program delivery where additional expertise or leadership is needed
Organization Engagement (10%)
- Attend all Ensemble Learning team, Program team, and other collaboration meetings
- Contribute to marketing content (blogs, conferences, social media)
- Attend and/or present at various nationwide conferences throughout the year
- Provide internal content training
- Other duties as assigned

Health Insurance Each employee at Ensemble Learning receives a $1,500 monthly stipend to cover their medical, dental, and vision insurance selections with the option to cover spouses and families.
