| Description of Work | The Director of Academic Advising plays a critical leadership role in a team of professionals integrating recruitment, academic advising, and career development. The Director hires, trains, and supervises Academic Advisors reporting through the Dean’s Office, including those housed in and out of the center. Identifies unit goals and priorities, and leads professional development efforts for staff. Priority will be given to candidates developing advising services and programs which improve the retention rate from first to second year and the graduation rate. Assesses quality of advising practice for CAS students including prospective, current, transfer, and returning students, and makes suggestions for improved service. Participates in overall student success strategies. Collaborates with multiple units across campus including other advising offices and student services partners.
