Job Description Summary


Organization's Summary Statement:
The Director of Administrative Operations provides comprehensive operational leadership for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (OVPSA), ensuring that divisional priorities are effectively executed and that executive operations run with precision and efficiency. This position partners closely with the Vice President and Assistant Vice Presidents to translate high-level goals into actionable work plans, coordinate cross-divisional initiatives, and oversee the systems and processes that drive efficiency, accountability, and measurable impact.

The Director leads the planning, coordination, and follow-through of critical projects and institutional engagements, manages governance over the Vice President's calendar and priority workflows, and prepares briefing materials and executive communications for high-profile meetings and events. While the position does not supervise full-time staff, it exercises significant leadership through cross-functional collaboration, initiative tracking, and operational oversight, ensuring that strategic commitments are delivered on time and at the highest standard.

Preferences:
10+ years of experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to organize complex material and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Must possess the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality, and must have a clear commitment to customer service. Ability to work across identities and maintain an inclusive environment. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the experience to interact effectively with administration, faculty, students, and staff.

Additional Certifications: 
Ability to be diplomatic in dealing with diverse clientele such as senior University administrators, government officials, Regents, Trustees, parents, alumni and students. Proficient with the use of Google

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Ten (10) years of professional experience managing business operations. Five (5) years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of business acumen to understand key business drivers, organizational communications, and data.
Knowledge of organizational and unit performances measures.
Knowledge of the impact and implications of decisions on leadership objectives.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in data analytics and negotiation.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Ability to develop and administer new policies and procedures.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
