Job Summary  | The Markey Cancer Center is hiring a Director of Community Outreach which is located within the Community Impact Office (CIO) of the Markey Cancer Center and will work closely with the Associate Director for Population Sciences and Community Impact. This is a leadership level position within the Community Outreach and Engagement area of the Markey Cancer Center which is a critical component to maintaining the status of being a National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

This position will lead efforts to catalyze multidisciplinary research partnerships between CIO and the basic, clinical, and population science research programs to promote and sustain innovative, community engaged research initiatives and collaborations. This position will be the CIO liaison to other components of the cancer center, including research administration, education/training, clinical research office, and shared resources. This position coordinates and monitors CIO activities across various teams and programs; develops program goals and objectives; oversees needs assessments, prepares annual operating budgets; recommends personnel actions and policies; assesses and optimizes organizational structure, including ensuring adequate staffing. The Director of Community Outreach makes data driven decisions and recommends new approaches to improve community engagement and research program initiatives. This position also oversees dissemination of CIO-related public-facing information and communications.

This position will supervise a team of staff within the CIO, research staff, and students. Expected duties include developing and operationalizing CIO evaluation plans, tracking evaluation metrics, preparing evaluation reports, assessing Markey impact on Kentucky cancer outcomes, strategic planning, leading projects, managing budgets, writing grant applications and progress reports, facilitating community engagement and research initiatives, leading CIO professional development efforts, and managing communications and relationships with intra-institutional leadership and inter-institutional partners.

This position will have a Remote/Hybrid Eligible arrangement.
